Our decreasing safety

or, if you thought we were living in a scary world, you ain't seen nothin' yet!

By Pappy McFae

A long, long time ago, in an America far, far away, we were sold a batch of bovine excrement about how the war on terror, most specifically the Iraq War was going to make us here in the US safer. We were going to fight them over there so they won't come over here. They were going to greet us as liberators. They were going to thank their lucky stars (and crescent moons) that Uncle Sam came over to kick Uncle Saddam's stinky ass. We were going to, once and for all, prove that the peoples of the Middle East could be given American style democracy, and they'd gladly throw away dreams of seventy-two virgins so they could rock the Casbah with an I-Pod. Those little white ear thingies are pretty bitchin' doncha know?!?!

While there was no truth to this line of bullshit, the people bought it, hook, line, and stinker. We actually believed that we could intercede in a battle that's been going on since about the time that the prophet Mohammad died. We thought we could quell a millennia and a few century's worth of animosity and blood lust in the short space of a few years.

Oh, wait, that's the bullshit story. We're really over there to make rich a**holes richer. How could I forget?

And through it all, we have been told repeatedly that if we would only but give up our civil rights, our freedoms, our lives, our money, and our intelligence, all would be well, and we'd be as safe as at Mom's Two Tittie Diner. Just trust the foxes with the henhouse, and all will be as right as rain.

We'd be safe as long as we paid protection money to a second-hand, yet quite powerful cleric, Al Sadir. We'd be safe as long as no one questioned what was really happening as the war chest went into bottomless spending mode. We'd be safe, as long as we agreed to pay the extortion demanded by the Oil Pigs, and their two White House Shills.

Well, so much for that theory now!

It's becoming as regular and revolting as the Democratic presidential farce; the stories about food scarcity and expense, and the economic and political turmoil that is being created because of it.

It all began in Mexico. On January 31, 2007, the people protested the higher prices for corn. That price increase is being caused by fools rushing to turn food into automotive fuel. As they do so, the prices of corn goes up, and the amount available to put in stomachs goes down.

Since that time, reports of food related political protests have been on the rise. Just this week, India and some other countries are no longer exporting rice. People who could barely afford to eat two cups of rice a day can now barely afford 2/3 of a cup. We are causing starvation over there.

And this isn't only happening overseas. Here in America, each gallon of milk we buy is tainted by the half-a-gallon of diesel fuel required to bring it to market. Each time I go to the grocery store, it's like I'm visiting the gas pump all over again...and there isn't a drop going in my gas tank. This is insane, and it keeps getting worse.

People can accept a lot, and still come up grinning, as long as their basic needs are being met. However, when you start impinging on those needs, you find out that each human being has an animal side, and that animal side demands food, water, shelter, and such.

Since the a**hole DUBYA has been in power, those basic needs/demands have been getting more expensive and less accessible. Just ask the two hundred and twenty thousand plus Americans in foreclosure. Just ask the mothers who send their kids to bed with empty stomachs. Just ask the people who are now in the criminal justice system just because they are trying to survive, eat, feed their kids, and keep everyone dressed in clean clothes, and the only way it can happen is to turn to a life of crime.

And who do you think the world blames for this mess? If you said, "the United States of America," you'd be right...and so would they.

We are fighting in a war that has drained banks, killed at least a million innocent people, and displaced even more. That war is being fought to raise the price of oil for some really important friends of DUBYA and Dick(HEAD). a**holes like Flush Lintball and Swill Orally might be able to make brain-dead republicans and their sycophantic Bubba Redneck morons believe that this isn't America's fault. However, the rest of the world isn't anywhere near as f*cking STUPID as we are. They know what the cause is, and they know who's responsible...and we're it!
