You Don't Have to Wake Up and Smell the Coffee

You Can Smell the Toast Instead.

Are we almost done with the hand wringing, anxiety, nausea, enraged shirt rending? Are we ready to make that deep - shoulders to the ears and down shrug? Maybe do it a few more times just to really get the kinks out. What we expected and hoped for (no matter the reason) seems to be a total fantasy. And now? What ya gonna do?

All that money you save by not supporting any politician financially can go directly to the needy in your community. Politicians are going to have all the money they need. Thank You For That SCROTUS. Politicians and parties certainly don't need our dollars any more. So, not a dime more until we are, one by one, fully employed. When you get a job, get back on board the money train.

Oh, we'll all still vote, so long as there are no admission charges to get into the booth. And I'm not sure a fee won't be charged sometime soon.

There's a few progressive websites that I participate in to support their work. Now? Not so much. MoveOn (to what exactly), World Can't Wait (obviously it can), Code Pink (a real moneymaker I'm told). Heck, any organization with a donate button above the fold. I'm not going to unsubscribe. But read and delete is the new protocol.

With the exception of Carolyn Baker (http://carolynbaker.net/site/) Politics, the economy, transitional living. And of course Truthout, nobody is getting a dime. These are vital resources for keeping ahead of the curves that are surely coming.

I think I'll use all the money being saved to buy stuff for the homeless shelters. They are going to need large supplies of consumables. Soap, shampoo, razors, laundry detergent, feminine products, sun block, bug spray, and just about anything you'd take with you when you go camping for two weeks, with KIDS and without electricity.

And the extra time you'll have! Instead of listening to progressive radio (gonna miss the politics with fart jokes show) or attending progressive talky talk meetings, you can now live a bit of your real life.

I'm building a farmlette. That's where all my activism time is going to go. The vegetable beds will get bigger, I'll plant more rows, and pay closer attention, so there will be more to give away.

We're adding 25 more chickens in two weeks. So there's plenty of things to do to with that project.

When I think of all the petitions, e-mails, calls, visits, regional and national protests we did for 8 years straight! Yikes. And for what? It's time to face the reality we live in. We have accomplished nothing. And before our very eyes, new outrages occur weekly. This is not a slippery slope, this is a cliff. I am pleased about Lilly Ledbetter though. God Bless Her.

We've lost more ground that I ever thought possible. But we knew, in our deeply cynical hearts, we were just blowing in the wind? We had more than a just a clue. You betcha! But it was the only game in town and we wanted to roll the dice one more time. We talked about change, they talked about change. Change was in the air. Sigh, now that's messed up too.

Now if some powerful charismatic fabulously rich (gay would be good) leader takes up the weight of progressive issues, let me know, I'll be back in the political saddle quicker than lightning. Debit card in hand.

But please, no more loser campaigns. It's got to be "In it to win it" -- and not just "making a point" or "raising a discussion".

If we ever get that third party/Green thing functioning, AND we can see it get some real traction, we'll be there.

There is a reason tribes have a chief. Here we are with all these "warriors" and look at us milling about, depressed, getting outraged (again) and then here we go doing everything we did last year.
