Today I received yet another e-mail from Progressive Democrats that supposedly "know better" than mainstream Democrats. Normally I wouldn't bother commenting on things like this but I'm really getting tired of being taken for a fool. This particular e-mail is from the supposedly progressive group "Credo".

This is what they sent to me;

"Dear Friend,

As the clock counts down to the deadline for the Super Committee to pass a deficit reduction deal, the Democrats have followed the tragic but all too common pattern of responding to Republican intransigence by caving on core issues.

The Democrats seem to think the Republicans really want a compromise on deficit reduction.

But the Republicans aren't primarily concerned about the deficit at all. What they want is to give tax cuts to the rich and pay for it by dismantling the social safety net.

Yet in a display of shocking naivety, the Democrats have tried to meet the Republicans halfway by agreeing to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits."

The rest of this correspondence asks me to sign a petition to prevent these deluded Democrats from selling us out.

It all looks very simple and above board, right?

Wrong.

  First of all, the Democrats in Congress aren't naive about anything. They haven't managed to keep their political jobs by being stupid. These people are politically savvy and probably know more than I ever will about politics. I'd say that those that sent me this e-mail are the ones that are naive, but that isn't true either.

The truth is that they really believe that the people who receive these e-mails live their lives in a dark closet. They actually think that because they say so, we'll believe the Democrats in the House and Senate just don't know any better. The reality is that the Democrats understand exactly what is going on and they are willing accomplices to the fraud perpetrated upon the American people.

Check this statement out:

"The Democrats seem to think the Republicans really want a compromise on deficit reduction, but the Republicans aren't primarily concerned about the deficit at all. What they want is to give tax cuts to the rich and pay for it by dismantling the social safety net."

Gee, ya think?
