"If that Birth does not pertain to me, then, what avails it?"   Meister Eckhart

This season we celebrate the virgin birth of God in humanity and humanity in God.   It is important to realize that this story is not a singular event that was idolized by a break off group of Jews living in the Roman Era, which then became a new religion called Christianity.   Indeed, the story of the virgin birth emanates throughout the world.   As stated by Margaret and Gordon Herbert ( http://www.progressions.info/8chap.pdf ):

Six centuries before the birth of Christ, the Hindus said that Krishna the Savior was the son of God, born of a virgin who was chosen to become the Mother of God. He was called the Royal Good Shepherd. The Buddha was called the Saviour of Men and was born miraculously of the Holy Ghost entering the virgin Maya (this is associated symbolically with Mary). The ancient Siamese had a virgin-born God and Saviour. The Jesuits in China were shocked to find that the Chinese had a very ancient story very similar to that of the virgin Mary and Jesus. The Egyptian Horus was a Saviour born from the virgin Isis, and manifested (fathered) by the God Osiris. He was called Shepherd of the People. The Persian Zoroaster was born of immaculate conception as the son of their Supreme God Oromasdes. Perseus was the son of Jupiter by the virgin Danae. In ancient Mexico the saviour Quetzalcoatle was born of a pure virgin, after a messenger from heaven announced to his mother that she would bear a son immaculately -- his symbol was the morning star. There are many other accounts that give justice to the similarities in the stories of the birth of a Savior from many cultures, preceding the birth of Christ.

We consider ourselves to be enlightened in this day and age of technological rationalism.   Yet, a few of us disagree.   I am one of those.   In our atheistic stance, we may say we are enlightened to the Truth.   Or, if we are Christian, we could also say we are enlightened to the Truth.   And, how do we define Truth?   It is generally through a philosophical creed.   You can call it a religious creed; or a scientific creed if you want.   Regardless, it is still a creed and a creed is nothing more than thoughts spoken or placed onto paper.

By creed, your mind is being controlled by the "powers that be" entailing the government, corporations and banks.     We see those powers and shake and quake at their power.   They are our 21st century Gods!   They can take away our living just by changing the "ons" and "offs" of a computer memory bank.   They can also jail us, kill us, and make us indebted to them for the rest of our lives.   They can also brainwash us by raising our want levels into shallow consumerism"just gotta look like Tammy Toothpick!

Yet, those powers that enslave, mesmerize and hypnotize us are but shallow ripples upon the infinity of Nature, i.e., the Self (Yahweh in Judiasm).   The term you use doesn't matter, experiencing the energy within and without yourself does.   Those enslaving powers of the "powers that be" are of the shallow ego mind and they create illusions.   They are nothing more than staged magicians out there to get you to feed the collection plates of their desires.
