When a gang robs a bank, maybe even killing people in the process, the depositors and bank owners don't go into the street and protest. Everyone assumes the law will take its course. A crime has been discovered, the police shall find, arrest and charge the perpetrators, their accomplices and sometimes even accessories, the courts shall indict, prosecute, and upon finding guilt, punish or confine the criminals until no longer a threat to society.
In 1967, Martin Luther King condemned the irrefutably massive crimes against humanity that most Americans were not seeing as such. But knowing from experience that the financial element ruling society owned the judges on the courts, both national and international, King must have felt constrained to merely demand, although with great fire in his voice, that "everyone must protest." that "silence was betrayal."
But during that year before he himself was silenced, after being vilified by corporate owned mass media as a traitor (with intention to reduce his popularity through intimidation), King witnessed a whole panoply of military actions illustrating those crimes against humanity by Americans, in the name of all Americans, as continuing and increasing in number, volume and spread.
Had King lived, he would have turned to demanding that US leaders responsible be indicted as war criminals in order to stop this worldwide reach of US crimes against humanity crimes he so detailed, along with crimes of media deception in his world shaking sermon Beyond Vietnam a Time to Break Silence.
King, and other activists, coming out of the civil rights movement and turning their attention to Vietnam, were realizing that there was already a body of laws, humane laws, on the books that clearly spoke to US invasions, bombings and and CIA activity as crimes against humanity. These were clear and simple laws, protective laws, unlike the weird, tricky and phony laws that had enforced a segregation so contrary to common law and human nature.
A month after King's assassination, during the trial for conspiracy to violate the Military Service Act of King's favored running mate as candidate for president, pacifist pediatrician Dr. Benjamin Spock, defense lawyers sought to introduce the UN Charter's Nuremberg Principles that describe what constitutes crimes against humanity.
Already the year before, British philosopher Bertrand Russell and French philosopher and playwright Jean-Paul Sartre, immediately following publication of Russell's book, War Crimes in Vietnam, had put together an International War Crimes Tribunal . The establishment of this investigative body was justified by quoting Nuremberg War Crimes Trials Chief Prosecutor Robert Jackson, speaking into the record at Nuremberg, "If certain acts and violations of treaties are crimes, they are crimes whether the United States does them or whether Germany does them. We are not prepared to lay down a rule of criminal conduct against others which we would not be willing to have invoked against us." The tribunal judges unanimously found the US and allies guilty of genocide in Vietnam.
King, if had been still alive at the time, would most certainly have begun to demand that law be brought to bear - law, that is, as defined in the Nuremberg Principles, constitutionally a part of the law of the land. This would have surely have frightened those running the Vietnam war, who knew they were guilty under these principles, principles, which had allowed not only for Nazi military to be indicted for trail at Nuremberg, but five Nazi media personalities and one Nazi banker as well. (Dear readers, this is a precedent we still can emphasize today, to shake everyone up anytime we wish to.)
Though King is gone; though America's war on Vietnam continued over his body for another eight years after he was liquidated; though his words condemning US wars for predatory investment have been successfully buried along with King's body by Wall Street owned and controlled mass media; though that war, as well as all the previous and subsequent wars on the third world, were never investigated, their perpetrators in the three branches of the US government, nor the compliantly complicit media ever investigated, and the books of the wars' funding investors behind every single war never publicly audited; in spite of all this seemingly hopeless past of unalterable ironclad perfidy, in our present age of instant worldwide communication, both international law and common law, might miraculously come into play overnight and surprise present and past high rolling master and minor war criminals, who include all the pitiful post-FDR US Presidents, all, both the clever and the mentally challenged, willing tools of the insane investment community that put them in the oval office to serve as their pimps, whom Noam Chomsky assures us would have all been hung had the principles of the Nuremberg Trials been applied.

King taught that all we need to do is rescue the minds of the presently media duped or intimidated majority of Americans. And never mind the speculating investment consensus control of the courts, of media, police, Pentagon, FBI, and CIA. King had confidence and an unswerving belief that judges, commentators and journalists, policemen, soldiers and covert agents are human just like we are, and like us, susceptible to changing thoughts, to having changing emotions, changes of heart and awakening perceptions.
How amazing it will seem for the convicted celebrity, always having figured himself to be untouchable, that he and his descendents will have to accept that a great household name has become garbage in the eyes of now joyfully free, wonderful, marvelous ordinary men and women, he had been fraudulently been placed so high above.
Yesterday, before computers had today's capability to process a trillion operations in a nano-second, we assumed our confident looking rich and famous superiors, arrogantly parading in power, insanely using us and the planet as their plaything, were well protected, unapproachable and irreproachable. Tomorrow, after their fall and rehabilitation, we will see them as having been weak minded men and women, publicly presenting themselves as exceptionally gifted, while inside their bedrooms, cowering in their dishonesty, who afterwards felt relieved to have been liberated from pretentious lives of desperate daily calculating within an inescapable prison of lonely greed and alienation from the simple joys of brotherhood denied them for their having succumbed to the commercial hype of egotistic self-centeredness.
Rather than the intimidation we feel today, we will wonder that we once took seriously, our politician congressmen passing a bill to prohibit their CIA, famous for its assassinations, from further assassination (only of public figures no less), reported in Pentagon-coached media in all seriousness, as if murder was not already a crime under common law, even punishable by death in some states.
We will ask ourselves why we anti-imperialist activists accepted, with little complaint, the documented founding and funding of a secret criminal organization with no congressional oversight and responsible only to the president. I mean, none of us had really wanted to think of the president as a dictator, a king, or a mafia don, who could order secretly assassinations like our Ike is on record as having done, at least for a newly elected popular young President Patrice Lumumba - Kennedy soon thereafter repeatedly failing to have Fidel Castro murdered.
We will ask ourselves why they thought themselves so safe in their crimes and lies as to have allowed CIA files to be make public, exposing secret criminal orders of presidents, so sure that after a few days few would care that Nixon gave orders to "make the Chilean economy scream." So sure of their reigning forever that Brzezinski openly bragged to a French journal of having Carter secretly order CIA funding, arming and training of Islamic fundamentalist terrorists to war against a women liberating popular socialist Kabul government, friendly to US, with intention to frighten the Russians into coming in to a trap to defend its ally - crediting himself with causing the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and pooh poohing his having caused the creation of al Qaeda and the loss of a million lives as unimportant compared with having brought about the end the Cold War.
We will ask ourselves why enough Americans were so childishly gullible to believe the absurd lies that justified each new bombing and murdering of people in their own homes to protect them from each other in civil wars arranged by America in each of dozens upon dozens of former colonized and enslaved nations now neo-colonized economically by their former white imperialist masters.
Why was it so damned easy for the criminal establishment, with adjunct outwardly prestigious private institutions, set up by David Rockefeller from day one of the CIA, to enjoy creating civil war after civil war throughout three continents to jump in on, through his collaborating appointees to the State Dept. John Foster and Allan Dullas, Henry Kissinger, and the Zbigniew Brzezinski. (In the last year of his life King was making trouble exposing it all, devoting half of his two major anti-war sermons to tracing real history from 1945 and its distortion by criminal media.)
We will looked back and admit that this whole story was on the internet as were the facts of John Rockefeller, Henry Ford and Dupont initially backing Hitler, and most of America's wealthiest families and almost every major corporation investing in cheap German labor and making a fortune collaborating with Hitler in building up a prostate Germany to the world's #1 military power in full awareness that Hitler was a maniac intent on invading the Soviet Union and cleansing Germany of Jews.
King envisaged 'justice rolling down like waters, righteousness like a mighty stream rolling like thunder down the mountain.' Maybe this roaring finale of justice King foresaw will be precipitated by millions of snowballing efforts creating an avalanche in King's image to source that great downward flow of justice that will sweep and wash away the lies justifying all past wars along with the false and phony reputations of the pathetic individuals who were willing to sic the scourge of war on beautiful, noble and wondrous Humankind during the past centuries of ignorance and savage conquest by Europeans of the entire rest of the world's non-white civilizations.
It will be a time when Einstein's "I would rather be torn apart than participate in a war." will become the sentiment of all of us, until eventually the word 'war' will fall into the category of an absurdity.
That cry of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the passionate follower of King, "God Damn America for her crimes against humanity", will be remembered as come to mean, 'God damn that criminal and murdering American empire that is no more.'
For we will have built a happily decent America in its place, as an integral part of humanity as a whole, looking to the stars and Mother Nature and enjoying our Earthly heritage in a completely normal atmosphere of mutual appreciation of our short lives, the past history of the few enslaving the many at the point of sword, machine gun, missile, nuclear weapon and by disinforming psyop mind control will be only a subject in the study of our evolution from industrial savagery to rehumanization.
