The corporate elite regard these times as "The End Game". With large majorities in congress passing the blatantly unconstitutional NDAA on top of all the other betrayals by our elected officials toward the people. The NDAA's provisions could be used to make people become "disappeared," as was done in Argentina and many other places.
This is the most dangerous point in American history for our Republic. As foreseen by Abraham Lincoln:
"I see in the future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of the war."

Is there any reason for hope? Any at all? However faint?
Well, recently Obama has stopped preparations for making war on Iran. An aircraft carrier battle group was withdrawn prior to joining war games with the Israeli Navy. Panetta, the Secretary of Defense, flatly stated that Iran is not developing nuclear weapons. Could this be for real? No war with Iran?
Then there was the Keystone pipeline environmental catastrophe. Postponed, at least.
Admittedly, both of the above items are readily reversible.
However, reportedly Obama plans to or has named New York State Attorney Eric Schneiderman to investigate the banksters. This could be real big. If Obama lets Schneiderman start sending scores of the criminal Wall Street elite to prison I, for one, would become hopeful that Obama has developed a conscience.
Sure, there are a host of other things Obama should cancel or reverse such as described in Stephen Lendman's article,

Watch what Obama does with the evil prosecution of former governor Don Siegelman begun under the Bush cabal, likewise the prosecution of John Edwards, a potential political rival, on dubious charges. He can simply drop those cases.
And any number of other things. Such as the NRC recently not being a rubber stamp for industry as reported in OpEdNews.
