America is in dire need of a new political party. This party, I'll call it the Diogenes Party(DP), will actually only allow persons into their party that meet specific ethical and mental standards. This means that if any party member or prospective member, commits any unethical behavior (lying, fraud, takes lobbyist money or bribes, etc.) or commits any demented type of act (slander, adultery, Clintonish or Bushish stupidities, etc.) they will be removed from the party immediately. Radical behavior would be right out! This party would only allow members to serve up to two terms in Congress or as appointees. All of each member's wealth would be publicly accounted for and monitored quarterly.
The planks of the DP would include:
1. The Constitution of the United States of America will be honored and defended.
2. Diplomacy will be considered first, last, and the only recourse in dealing with problems external to the United States.
3. Protecting the citizens of this country shall consist of the provision and guaranteeing of complete Healthcare (replacement of Medicare, Medicaid, VA Healthcare, and other government healthcare), the primary and continuing education of all (well paid and trained teachers), the best trained and paid law and disaster enforcement personnel, a well educated and equipped military that provides vocational training for retirees/veterans.
4. The public disclosure of all monies paid out of the Treasury department and complete accounting of all taxes.
5. A public accounting (tagged by SSN) of every citizens vote to ensure that each person has complete assurance that their vote was counted as they applied it.
6. Programs to give the wealthiest 10% of this country a system in which to invest their savings that will create jobs, grow the infrastructure of our future, and insure the solvency of this nation.
7. Rebuild the American Dream out of the current nightmare by restoring the Middle Class and raising the lower class above poverty.
8. Work to rebuild the UN into what it was originally meant to be by changing the Security Council to only elected members(no more permanent 5) and pursuing worldwide population reduction and raising the standard of human life to the highest levels possible.
9. The use of taxation primarily to control capitalism from its self destructive tendencies and promote more humane corporate management(better distribution of company salaries and bonuses).
10. Renew/enact laws concerning truth in advertising(FCC) and financial institutions(SEC).
11. Restrict Congressional meeting time to a minimum. Require Congressional personnel to reside in their home states for at least 2/3rds of each year.
12. All legislation must be developed/modified by permanent special committees of experts in each field. Congress will then be required to vote such legislation into law.
