I wonder how many OEN readers own SUVs or minivans. If so, you'll become defensive when I assert that you should not be sharing the roads with regular-sized and compact vehicles. You own WMDs. My father was killed in a sedan hit by an SUV and my brother was maimed. Both accidents I've been in in my life, neither one my fault, have involved "maxi-taxis" that have hit me. In one case damages totaled $5,000; in the other my vehicle was totaled. I was injured both times but obviously not killed.
SUVs are fun to drive. Used to be, those in need of maxi-taxis had station wagons that worked just fine, even with maxidogs in the rear space. Gas=guzzling SUVs block vision in parking lots and parking places, making the driving experience even more dangerous than it was.
I remember when they became popular, after that highway pursuit of O.J. Simpson in L.A., evading the cops in his Ford Explorer. When was that--1996? Reminds me of how videocameras became popular after that woman murdered her two young sons by shoving them into a lake trapped in a car. The videos shown from coast to coast of idyllic family scenes preceding the atrocity caught on and boosted the business astronomically.
So don't say that crime doesn't pay.
