URGENT CALL TO PA CITIZENS AND JUDGES OF ELECTIONS PA already has 2 important LAWS which should be the 1st line of decision making and protection for voting rights.Put the two laws together,it seems clear that if a single machine break-down disrupts order by costing voters to leave or undue burden of long lines to form,the elec.judge should immediately act to request in accordance with sworn duty and the above statute that emergency paper ballots be permitted to citizens.

PA Needs SOS but not this SOS: Bonifaz & Friedman on Voice of the Voters 9/10/08 Pennsylvania's Secretary of State has just issued a non-binding directive requiring that emergency paper ballots be issued only if ALL machines in a precinct malfunction. But the state already has a law which allows ( but does not require) paper ballots if just one machine per precinct malfunctions. In addition, PA has a directive allowing electronic votes to be destroyed if the "record" button is not pushed.

Coalition for Voting Integrity Members Join Major New Voting Rights Lawsuit members of CVI in four counties have joined in the latest lawsuit against the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to halt the use of electronic voting machines that do not create a permanent physical record of each vote. DoJ Threatens to Take Over NY Elections! on 11/7 "Voice of the Voters" The DOJ is arguing that not only must NY replace all lever machines by September 2008,but Federal law is the controlling law,and the state has no right to impose higher standards than called for at the federal level.This is a very scary assumption - a state has no right to put high voting machine standards in place than Congress has called for..this sounds to me like good news for voting machine vendors,& bad news for citizens
