Dave Ewoldt is a practitioner and researcher in the field of ecopsychology--helping people remember how to think and act the way that nature works, and the health and wisdom that can be gained by doing so. In other words, a paradigm shift coach. He is a co-founder of Coalitions of Mutual Endeavor, a non-profit which uses natural systems principles to facilitate coalitions that can build the critical mass to create critical change, and is a founding member of Transition Pima, the first sanctioned Transition Initiative in the American Southwest desert. A published systems theorist, Dave is a member of a national speakers bureau on global warming, and speaks regularly at local, national and international conferences on sustainability, Peak Oil, global warming, corporatism, the theft of the commons, and how relocalization--powering down, reconnecting, steady-state economies, and an Earth jurisprudence--provide a practical, affordable response as a process to create a sustainable future. His book-in-progress is "Connecting the Dots: Reversing Our Handbasket to Hell."

Save Mother Earth Day Disconnection is fatal. When we remove ourselves, or are forcibly removed from the system that supports our lives and the mutually supportive relationships that are required for a fulfilling life, we begin to whither and die. It becomes impossible to even come close to fulfilling our potential. More money, more goods, and more pharmaceuticals can only cover this up for so long.

Global Warming: Mitigate, Adapt... or Reverse? Let's connect some dots and see if global warming mitigation and adaptation should retain our focus, do they merely continue the status quo of exploitation and imperialism, or should we actually attempt to reverse course by working with the natural systems principles from which life emerges?

Coalition Support for the Occupy Movement Clarifying the goals of Occupy with a pragmatic response for systemic change is going to require getting a good bit of the 99% actually involved. We all know things aren't working, so what can we actually do? Here's one path.

Moving from Protest to Action We're spinning our wheels with protests and marches. The urgency of addressing global warming means we must get serious. There is a more rational alternative, whose chance of success increases when you discover that we're actually the majority.

Political Feasibility in the Clash of Paradigms Slapping band-aids on the wounds of empire may be necessary in the short-term, but we can do better than that. First we have to be honest about what's going on, the science and processes that support systemic change, and on what our effective responses are. Here's a hint: Arguing with ideologues, the grand scheme of Organizing for Action, isn't one of them.

Building Critical Mass for a Progressive Future How can the progressive left, as everyone keeps wondering, come together to build the critical mass necessary for change that works for life? Well, there are some core requirements that we might want to try implementing, as it seems what we're doing isn't going real well.

Coming to Grips with Global Warming Coming to grips with global warming starts with being honest about what we're facing and the paradigm that is causing it. Then, we must raise awareness that there is an alternative that can actually improve quality of life, and build the critical mass to begin implementing it.

Do We Really Want to do Something About Violence? We Can. We can do something about violence that goes beyond hand-wringing and doesn't lead to a national lockdown. But it will require actually addressing underlying issues--do we really want progress and prosperity or are we convinced aggression and greed is the best we're capable of--and building the critical mass to support fundamental change.
