Some 45 years ago I became aware of the fact that the government of The United States was trying to kill me. I wasn't paranoid or anything. I mean I knew the government wasn't out to kill me personally. They just wanted to kill as many Vietnamese people as they could. And if it took killing tens of thousands of Americans to do it ... well, that's policy, not paranoia.

Since then I've been leery of, and tried to keep track of, my government's "policies." The truly horrendous ones, like the Vietnam War, were based on lies.

When I was a five years old, in my neighborhood in the yard of the house at the end of the block, lived a big mean ol' German Shepherd named Rex. Every time I walked by, Rex would be at the end of his rope, furiously barking and snarling, straining to murder. One day I walked by and noticed Rex's rope had broken, and there he was ... right in front of me ... free ... and growling.

The government's rope was seriously frayed when Ronald Reagan occupied the Oval Office, and completely snapped when The Supreme Court installed George W. Bush as president.

In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., " the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today -- my own government" -- today roams the globe free and unfettered.

Boo.

Trouble sleeping? Me too.

Descent into Hell, From YouTubeVideos

Descent! There are monsters in America. They are tearing families apart. Regardless of how much terror and anguish they cause by ripping children away from their parents, the monsters continue to follow their orders and do their jobs. They are building a concentration camp in Texas for children. And now the monsters are turning their baleful gaze toward "naturalized" American citizens.

Anything Can Happen Day The message is loud and clear: Do Not come to the United States if you are seeking political protection from the wars and violence in your home country. Because if you do, the United States will tear your family apart.

Night Stalkers Dreams may lose their power at dawn but inevitably the sun sets. Yeah, I know a lot about nightmares. Recurring nightmares. They're like tenants in a run-down rooming house in the shi**y part of town. They each have their own room where they remain behind locked doors during the day because they all work the night shift.

Autopsy... I watch The Killer movie at least once every year. During the Reagan presidency I watched it more often than that. No matter how rotten the Real World became, because of the miracle of videotape, I could watch Lee Marvin shoot Ronald Reagan whenever I needed a little morale booster. There is justice somewhere in the world, even if it's only in the movies.

The Middle Ground Between Light and Shadow Close your eyes ... take a deep breath ... exhale ... then ask yourself a simple question. A question you might ask someone to test their memory after they've received a serious blow to the head: Who is the president of the United States? Now open your eyes. That's the signpost up ahead -- your next stop, the Twilight Zone.

We're Stumped It was Over in 2000. It was Over when Bev Harris and other researchers proved how the election was stolen again in 2004. It was Over when Barack Obama did not prosecute the Bush/Cheney Regime for war crimes. It was Over when our charmingly erudite president put The Left to sleep for eight years and killed more civilians with drones and prosecuted more whistleblowers than Bush/Cheney ever did.

Say Goodnight Gracie Part Five of Five -- or -- Less Talk, More Monkey The United States of America, until last week anyway, wore a mask of sanity. The election of Fucko the Clown did away with the bother of even pretending to be sane. Just click around The Internet and you'll find example after example of Good Ol' American Guys and Gals taking their newly affirmed hate out for a spin and terrorizing women and people of color.

Quien es Mas Loco? ... Or ... Say Goodnight Gracie Part IV We could argue about whether or not the U.S. is a Fascist State, or an oligarchy, or to be more precise, a plutocracy, but that's not the point. The point is: all Americans must vote against Donald John Trump. Because he is insane. That's it.

Say Goodnight Gracie, Part III There is an Orange Monster, with deplorable minions, hammering at the gates of the shining city upon a hill. This beast, who had lived his entire life in ostentatiously bestial ways, recently had been shown to also treat women in a beastly fashion. The outraged citizens chose a strong, battle-hardened woman as their leader to battle the beast. But the leader they chose to vanquish the Orange Monster...was another monster.

Say Goodnight Gracie Part II Fifteen days after the 9/11 anniversary -- Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump met to debate who should be the next president of The United States. Each candidate was only emptiness with a name. This election, more so than most, is just a cheap garish distraction from paying attention to the thing in the chrysalis that is "becoming." Regardless of who "wins" the election -- we will still be living within the Dominant Culture.

Fascist Laff Riot the day after the elections in November we will have a fascist as president-elect of The United States. But it didn't have to be this way. Bernie Sanders would have crushed Trump in the election. The United States would not have slid further into fascism. I can't forget, I hope no one will forget...Hillary Clinton stole the Democratic nomination from Bernie Sanders. The End.

Can't Sleep? Me Too The banality of evil at Fox News is blatantly obvious -- to everyone except the people who watch Fox News ... um ... religiously. There's something palpably "wrong" with the FOX people. Every once in a while some aspects of their private lives leak into the public spotlight. Watch Fox News' coverage of the Republican (and Democratic) conventions. You'll never sleep easily again.

We Will Never Get What We Want or ... The House Always Wins We voted for Al Gore and he won. But 6 million of our votes were stolen and we got four years of George Bush. Then we voted for John Kerry and he won. But 10 million votes were stolen and we got four more years of George Bush. And now we have voted for Bernie but were ripped off once again.

What's the Signpost Up Ahead? Donald and Hillary are committed to enriching themselves and their 1% pals at the expense of the entire world, as well as making war anywhere in the world to make money and garner more power. Since I'm slightly smarter than a head of kale I don't think it is wise to vote for either one of them.

God (or whoever) Bless You Mr. Vonnegut I plan to re-read more of Kurt Vonnegut's books. Cat's Cradle, Player Piano, and Breakfast of Champions are at the top of the list. But reading too much of Vonnegut, for me, leads to melancholy. It's when I hold up one of his books next to reality -- and see they are exactly the same. And as Vonnegut wrote many times -- so it goes.

I'm not on Drugs ... Maybe I'm Dreaming All the nightmarish components are coalescing. Slowly -- slowly -- we seem inexorably drawn towards exactly where we don't want to be. Warnings have zero impact. Every ignominious action that would crash and burn a candidate in prior campaigns propels Trump poll numbers higher.

The Amazing Criswell Predicts -- More Trumpety-trump-trump-trump The cash dropped during the primaries is chump change compared to the deluge that happens between the conventions and Election day. The script written last year had Jeb(!) winning the nomination as the other contenders happily deposited their consolation prize money into offshore accounts. But that script got tossed in the trash when Trump threw his Make America Great Again cap into the ring.

Doubling Down on the Crazy I obviously have no idea what's going to happen after the votes are counted on election night. And my imagination has proven time and time again that it is not my best friend. But I just can't see millions and millions of unimaginably frustrated and crazed Republican Trumpsters going home and getting back on their meds. I think they're going to take In-Your-Face-Crazy to the next level into the stratosphere.

Following in the footsteps of Victor Frankenstein This year marks the 20th anniversary of Fox News. Twenty years of feeding and nurturing its audience with lies and distortions has created a monster that has slipped its leash, overthrown its creators, and freely roams the countryside. It's blind, it can talk, and it loves death. What could possibly go wrong?

Bad Horror Movie All the Republican hopefuls -- All Of Them -- are fascists. Who cares which one crawls out to claim the nomination prize? On the Democratic side the best thing I can say about Hillary Clinton is she says that she's not a Fascist anymore. This somehow is not comforting.
