Since then I've been leery of, and tried to keep track of, my government's "policies." The truly horrendous ones, like the Vietnam War, were based on lies.
When I was a five years old, in my neighborhood in the yard of the house at the end of the block, lived a big mean ol' German Shepherd named Rex. Every time I walked by, Rex would be at the end of his rope, furiously barking and snarling, straining to murder. One day I walked by and noticed Rex's rope had broken, and there he was ... right in front of me ... free ... and growling.
The government's rope was seriously frayed when Ronald Reagan occupied the Oval Office, and completely snapped when The Supreme Court installed George W. Bush as president.
In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., " the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today -- my own government" -- today roams the globe free and unfettered.
Boo.

Descent! There are monsters in America. They are tearing families apart. Regardless of how much terror and anguish they cause by ripping children away from their parents, the monsters continue to follow their orders and do their jobs. They are building a concentration camp in Texas for children. And now the monsters are turning their baleful gaze toward "naturalized" American citizens.

Night Stalkers Dreams may lose their power at dawn but inevitably the sun sets. Yeah, I know a lot about nightmares. Recurring nightmares. They're like tenants in a run-down rooming house in the shi**y part of town. They each have their own room where they remain behind locked doors during the day because they all work the night shift.

Autopsy... I watch The Killer movie at least once every year. During the Reagan presidency I watched it more often than that. No matter how rotten the Real World became, because of the miracle of videotape, I could watch Lee Marvin shoot Ronald Reagan whenever I needed a little morale booster. There is justice somewhere in the world, even if it's only in the movies.

Say Goodnight Gracie, Part III There is an Orange Monster, with deplorable minions, hammering at the gates of the shining city upon a hill. This beast, who had lived his entire life in ostentatiously bestial ways, recently had been shown to also treat women in a beastly fashion. The outraged citizens chose a strong, battle-hardened woman as their leader to battle the beast. But the leader they chose to vanquish the Orange Monster...was another monster.

Say Goodnight Gracie Part II Fifteen days after the 9/11 anniversary -- Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump met to debate who should be the next president of The United States. Each candidate was only emptiness with a name. This election, more so than most, is just a cheap garish distraction from paying attention to the thing in the chrysalis that is "becoming." Regardless of who "wins" the election -- we will still be living within the Dominant Culture.

We Will Never Get What We Want or ... The House Always Wins We voted for Al Gore and he won. But 6 million of our votes were stolen and we got four years of George Bush. Then we voted for John Kerry and he won. But 10 million votes were stolen and we got four more years of George Bush. And now we have voted for Bernie but were ripped off once again.

God (or whoever) Bless You Mr. Vonnegut I plan to re-read more of Kurt Vonnegut's books. Cat's Cradle, Player Piano, and Breakfast of Champions are at the top of the list. But reading too much of Vonnegut, for me, leads to melancholy. It's when I hold up one of his books next to reality -- and see they are exactly the same. And as Vonnegut wrote many times -- so it goes.

The script written last year had Jeb(!) winning the nomination as the other contenders happily deposited their consolation prize money into offshore accounts. But that script got tossed in the trash when Trump threw his Make America Great Again cap into the ring.

Doubling Down on the Crazy I obviously have no idea what's going to happen after the votes are counted on election night. And my imagination has proven time and time again that it is not my best friend. But I just can't see millions and millions of unimaginably frustrated and crazed Republican Trumpsters going home and getting back on their meds. I think they're going to take In-Your-Face-Crazy to the next level into the stratosphere.
