Eliminating AmeriCorps Would Produce More Costs Than Savings As part of a program to reduce $35 billion in federal government spending, Republicans are planning to eliminate the Corporation for National and Community Service, which provides the funding for AmeriCorps programs. The costs to the country of eliminating this program far outweigh the $1 billion removed from the federal budget.
