Winston Smith is an ex-Social Worker. I worked in child welfare, and in medical settings and in homeless settings. In the later our facility was geared as a permanent address for people to apply for welfare. Once they received that we could send them to facilities in which their welfare paid the bill and provided enough for a meager existence. We also referred people to vocational rehabilitation services. Many of the people who came to us were people who were clearly emotionally ill, but Reagan's slashing of the services for these people caused them to become homeless. One woman I dealt with-St. Jane, believed she was in direct communication with God, urinated freely without using the facilities and she had 47 bags of trash which were prized possessions. She got welfare and was sent to a facility were she could survive. The rule was that our facility could be used 1 time only as we had too many people who thought that the services that we provided we would lift them from the dire straights that they were in. Well, we provided our services for St. Jane around Thanksgiving. On Christmas Eve she was back with her 47 bags of trash and wanted to stay at our facility. I informed my superior of this situation, but we declined to provide services for St. Jane. She slept in front of our facility in a snowstorm. The local rag took the picture and excoriated us for what we did. The local welfare department asked her where she would like to live. St. Jane said Chicago because she liked the wind. She knew on one there. She and her 47 bags of trash of were carted onto a train for the windy city and never of again. The local welfare department was glad to get shed of her. Social welfare in the mid-1980's was geared to blame the victim. Ill people were sent home from hospitals were no one was going to help them because social welfare budgets were slashed by Reagan. Bush 41's â"thousand points of lightâ" was just another way to shaft the weakest in our society. Bush 43's faith based initiative was just another attempt to reduce social welfare services. Reagan's â"Just say Noâ" was the pinnacle of hypocrisy. No services for those who desperately needed them under the guise of tough love.

Obviously I became burnt out by too much indifference regarding our weak and weary. I couldn't look at desperate people and could not get myself to say that what I could offer them wouldn't really help themâ"”it would only get them out of my office to be another person's problem, until the local welfare department carted them away.

I had little interest in politics until the illegal Iraq War started. Growing up in the 1960's caused me to understand that the GOP used war to attract right-wing extremists to vote for them. When â"Tricky Dick'sâ" secret plan to end the Vietnam War unfolded into elongating our presence there for 8 years I knew that I would never believe a GOP war-monger again. I dislike Obama's plan to escalate our presence in Afghanistan and see it as a craven attempt to placate the GOP. Maybe he'll reduce the GOP's attacks against him, but it will at the expense of alienating his base.

Why did we all hate Palin? W and Palin are linked together as idiot GOP puppets. She was just the latest symbol of the GOP's complete hatred of the US and the GOP's reliance on propagandists to create the reality they wanted our common man to docilely accept. You wonder how W can look himself in the mirror. Palin called Obama a hater of the US and somehow she sees herself as a politician with a future full of promise when it is its mirror opposite.

These blue-blooded chumps are laughing at us There is a limited amount of people who are vile enough to serve W and they keep on bumping into each other's crimes. Harvey Pitt, the robber baron Bush's initial SEC chairman undoubtedly taught Paulson about deregulation. W, the business major, learned about business models. He used the Iraqi reconstruction outline for his destruction of our economy for his cronies' gain.

$25 billion is 2 months in Iraq. W could piss away so much money in Iraq for the Halliburtons and Blackwaters, but can't get himself to help the automakers which comprise 10% of the US workforce. Let's see-anything for the top 1% "Pioneer" and "Ranger" contributors and nothing for the lower and middle classes. That sums up the traditional GOP economic policy that the radically incompetent big bro 43 abused.

Bush planned the economic crisis for partisan GOP gain. With the Iraq war the red staters didn't know if we fighting the Orwellian Eurasia and/or Eastasia because these dear lazy dolts have to believe the propaganda that Clear Channel and FOX news disseminates. As far as the bailout--or can it be better labeled one last chance for the top 1% swine at the trough, there is only one conclusion. Bush planned the economic crisis for partisan GOP gain, just as he did the Iraq war.

By the way, you sorry excuse for a president your policies are reprehensible! How can Obama calmly say to W that his domestic policies have resulted in the subprime mortgage crisis which metastasized into an economic crisis? Obama knows that the W administration has already denied any desire to pass lame-duck economic stimulus legislation. How can Obama keep his composure when he realizes that W's defiance of this stimulus will result in elongating our middle and lower classes suffering?

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." It can't be clearer. Vote for Obama. The other side has ruined our chances for financial security-resulting in our desperate youth joining the military for a chance to succeed. Who will they be fighting if mini-me wins? Not bin laden, but Shiites and Sunnis and Kurds who want to kill our boys and girls specifically because they hate the US occupiers. We are not asking for much--just vote for Obama.

It hasn't changed. When you consider the base of the GOP you realize that these people-- other than the loathsome top 1%, are people who barely think. They bear the brunt of the GOP's wars and tax scams for the top 1%, yet they believe the GOP propaganda which rarely changes throughout the decades.

We're all fearful, but we need hope! Let's consider this. If it gets into the mass culture it was prevalent. What is a better example of this than the lyrics of the time? Rock groups in the 1960 era echoed sentiments-sometimes presaged those of the youth of the period. Congressman Lewis agrees with the Rascals--a group whose popularity reached its apex during the time period Lewis is discussing, that mini-me's campaign has similarities to Wallace's.

Obama has to be more aggressive and the time to start is now! I saw a CNN survey that said Obama won the debate 51 to 38. The CNN broadcaster who remarked on the survey made the disclaimer that this result was for those who watched the debate. Who else could vote on it? Rove knows his beloved 2 to 5% of information free voters. Mini-me put lies and propaganda out there that will float around the US environment and will trickle into these people's mind.

Tit for tat has to end with Keating 5. I can see in the debate Obama saying to mini-me "Look. You were caught in the 1987 Keating 5 scandal, the 1999 Paxson/Iseman mess, and you have been a champion of deregulation. This $700 billion bailout comes directly from your incompetence, and yet you have an ad out saying that I caused the economic crisis the US is in. Do you have no honor?" The debates might end up with the two of them pounding on each other.

GOP emptiness. I haven't heard a blessed word about the benchmarks that Iraq had to meet or just the mathematical fact that 11 out of 18 is 61% and change. I guess that qualifies as a gentleman's C in W's Yale, but why isn't our media challenging mini-me about this non-fuzzy math? Woodward's latest book is just the latest evidence that demonstrates that W lied to us and spied on his hand-picked Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

McCain's emptiness. The US's international policy in the last 8 year has been dominated by big bro 43's GWOT-which has isolated us and made us weaker. W's domestic policy has caused a weakening of the dollar, losses in jobs and the sub-prime mortgage crisis. Based on these disasters in governance--and mini-me's allegiance to them, there is nothing in McCain's attacks of Obama.

GWOT is only a sick scam which weakened us! GWOT is only a sick scam which weakened us! We have no resources available for other emergencies such as Georgia. Putin knew this and had no fear of us when he attacked Georgia. Putin snickered when he heard Gates talking about the "Long War" knowing we would let him do whatever he wanted in Georgia. We need the moral high ground in the international community and W must be impeached to restore it.

Dear red staters the GOP is playing blood-stained politics with our military. If Obama can fight off mini-me's slanderous remarks then the trail for W's crimes are hot. W's aiding of mini-me's campaign is not about burnishing W's legacy-it is about keeping the Democrats from having subpoena power while all of the crimes are still fresh. We know that big bro 43 is running out the clock and that the Democrats won't impeach him as they figure if they W's popularity will surge from all-time lows.

Start the phased withdrawal from Iraq! Decent humans such as ourselves think about Kerry's plea: "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?" Our enemy is in the Tora Bora region, not Iraq-which is where there is no WMD and where there won't be a sovereign Iraq democracy, if big bro 43 has his way!

The GOP is trying their ages old ploy of terrifying the US. We're getting people who see life in our country as being so suspect that signing on to a living hell is a viable option, thanks to big bro 43 and mini-me McCain's propaganda. Bush has stated that he envied people in the military the adventure of fighting against our GWOT enemies. These extremist right-wing Christian people are the same as the extremist Islamic jihadist people who sign up to be suicide bombers.

Terrorism thrives in lawless areas Big bro 43 has flaunted US laws and has spread propaganda regarding GWOT to scare our citizens-thus he has promoted bin laden's goals much more effectively than Al-Qaeda ever could. Mini-me McCain, W's third term, has the nerve to attack Obama as being weak on terrorism, when it is W and the GOP who have given bin laden his greatest victories. After all they let him go when they had him bottled up in Tora Bora.

Typical war-mongering, hypocritical, GOP model. McCain's politics mirror Cheney's. They can flip-flop along seamlessly telling different packs of lies to different packs of rubes. McCain was against tax cuts for the rich, until he signed up for them. He was adamantly against allowing the US Military torture detainees, but thought that the CIA could. He is mumbling that our forces could be in Iraq a hundred years--perpetuating GWOT as he is as radically incompetent as W is

"What Happened" "What Happened" is that big bro 43 used propaganda to push us into an illegal pre-emptive, non-sanctioned by the UN, war. W used perpetual campaigning to ram down our throats lies about WMD, and his lies were so pervasive he fooled experienced Senators. W prattled that Congress didn't have access to the information he did so how could the Congress not agree with him.

Get out now. History will look at this awful Iraq war and note that it was started on a pack of lies, continued by the same and state that the only group who benefited from it, were the Halliburtons of the world and condemn the big bro 43 administration for this vile conflicts of interests.
