Rush Limbaugh: America's Biggest Welfare Recipient Rush Limbaugh is always bitching and moaning about welfare recipients (indeed, he slams any working person who gets any kind of assistance from the government). Of course, Limbaugh exempts himself from his screeds about welfare. After all, the OxyMoron gets loads of welfare himself. Indeed, Limbaugh's entire business is dependent on free usage of the public airwaves, a tangible and valuable asset that We The People own.

The Great Depression of 2008 Until last week, most economists were divided on whether the U.S. was in a recession or not. Now, with the ailing mortgage agencies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on the ropes, it's clear that what's unfolding is far worse than any recession.

But there's an audience for Levin's twisted vision. In Levin's latest book, he tries to justify his extremist beliefs by claiming that his views are what the Founding Fathers wanted. But the Founding Fathers would have despised a demagogue like Levin and his sickening and grotesque views.

Steve Jobs Represented Much Of What's Wrong With America's Economy Today The late Steve Jobs was a genius. He was an incredibly shrewd businessman. And he was a marketing wizard. Jobs was the larger-than-life visionary behind Apple, which has been hailed as one of the all-time great American economic success stories. But there's one big problem with this rosy picture. The fact is, Apple represents a great deal of what's wrong with the U.S. economic system today.

Wild West Era Had Stricter Gun Control Than America Has Today If even a Wild West town like Tombstone could have strict gun control ordinances, why can't we do the same as a nation today? The fact is, the Old West was downright safe, compared to today's blood-soaked streets in America. For one thing, no one in the Old West ever had to face down a lethal instrument like a modern-day Glock semi-automatic pistol. Firearms in the Old West were downright crude and tame, compared to a Glock.

How Did America's Founding Fathers Feel About Christmas? As right-wing blowhards try to ram their fundamentalist beliefs down our throats, it's instructive to take a look at the history of Christmas in America. The fact is, Christmas wasn't particularly important to our Founding Fathers. The U.S. government didn't even recognize Christmas as a holiday until 1870. Until then, Congress routinely met and conducted business on Christmas day. It was, in fact, just another workday.

Phil Gramm: Porn Mogul Molly Ivins once exposed Phil Gramm as the typical sort of GOP hypocrite who (like George W. Bush) loudly denounces all government programs, even as he rakes in tax dollars from various government programs. However, at one point, Gramm did at least attempt to make a living in the private sector. Before Gramm joined the Christian Coalition's Ralph Reed to call for defunding the NEA, he was an investor in soft-core porn movies.

White House Censorship Of Global Warming Science Nothing New The White House has come under fire for censoring congressional testimony on the public health challenges of global warming. But it's not the first time the Bush administration has tried to censor the inconvenient truths of global warming. How Bush Unwittingly Helped Bin Laden's Plan To Wreck U.S. Economy It's clear that the main goal of the 9/11 attacks was to provoke the U.S. into a costly war that would drain our treasury and ultimately weaken the dollar, the main lever of America's global power and influence. In fact, Osama bin Laden succeeded beyond his wildest dreams in provoking America into not one, but two disastrous and ruinously expensive wars that have done untold damage to America's economic power.

How the American Economy Became a Sleazy Carnival Freak Show The U.S. economy today resembles a sleazy carnival midway. Rather than producing useful goods and services, our Carnival Freak Show Economy these days spends more and more time running scams and swindling people (think Wall Street).
