In late 2008, I started the blog Unsilent Generation, which I call "a site for pissed-off progressive old folks (and future old folks)...because we're not dead yet." I follow the health care battle, report a good deal on prisons (where increasing numbers of older people are locked up),and general news from the perspective of an older person, a child of the Great Depression and a member of the so-called Silent Generation. (I also write about old dogs). I am a journalist with 45 years experience covering U.S. and international politics for publications from the New Republic to the Village Voice, and am currently senior Washington correspondent for Mother Jones. Read more of my posts at www.unsilentgeneration.com or www.motherjones.com, or check out my web site at www.jamesridgeway.net.
