Progressives Must Stand up to the President There almost isn't any deal you can't get Obama to sign off on. And that's my whole point for writing this -- we can not have him do this next time! Next time, the negotiations are over trillions, not billions. If he meets them more than halfway -- as he has done every single time now -- it will be a colossal disaster.

Was Jared Loughner's Act Political? Was Jared Loughner's act in shooting Rep. Giffords political? Apparently this is what's being debated with a straight face now. Is this a joke? He shot a politician in the head. He called it an "assassination." What part of that was unclear?

Ann Coulter vs. Sarah Palin Does that mean Sarah Palin also thinks Ann Coulter should be fired? Does Ann Coulter have a job she can be fired from? What does Ann Coulter do with her life? Come to think of it, what does Sarah Palin do? More importantly, how will these ladies settle this?

New Poll Confirms Country is Clearly Progressive New poll out indicates that the country is clearly, massively, overwhelmingly progressive. While they talk about cutting so-called entitlement programs in Washington, the American people have completely different priorities.

GOP Not Allowed to Talk About the "Will of the Public" John Boehner keeps saying over and over that the Democrats must go along with Republican plans from now on because they have to listen to the... will of the public. Well, here's what I don't remember -- the Republicans giving a damn about the will of the public after the 2008 elections. The American people spoke as loudly and clearly as I have ever seen in any election in my lifetime.

Is it Time for Democrats to Fight Obama? Bush just barely got his tax cuts passed. President McCain wouldn't have come close. Only a Democratic president could so effectively get a Democratic Congress to agree to that for the rich. So much for "centrist" policies benefiting everyone.

Is it Time for Democrats to Fight Obama? You want to hear something really depressing? If John McCain had won the presidency, there is almost no chance he could have gotten the Bush tax cuts extended for the rich. Think about it. How was a Republican president going to get an overwhelmingly Democratic Senate and House to pass those tax cuts that they hated under Bush?

The Hidden Cost of Capitulation Now that the president has signaled yet another collapse in agreeing to tax cuts for the rich, there is a hidden cost to this capitulation. He is now stuck defending this deal for the rest of his term. I predicted this on the show yesterday and today it's playing out exactly the way I imagined, with the president sending out advisers to talk about what a great idea it is to give tax cuts to the rich.

Is Barack Obama Stupid? Although 77% of Americans would let the Bush tax cuts for the rich expire, it's a fact that most Democrats also get campaign donations from the millionaires and billionaires. Though it's self-destructive in the long run because those guys will always give more to the Republicans, the Dems can't wean themselves off of that money. So, they go along with whatever their rich funders want.

Is Barack Obama Stupid? 53% of respondents said there should only be tax cuts for the middle class and no tax cuts for people making over $250,000. That's the number most people in the media are using, but that's not quite accurate. Another 14% said they don't want tax cuts for anybody, including the top bracket. S

Why Can't We Be the Job Creators? The Republicans always use the excuse that we have to give the rich huge tax cuts because they are the "job creators." Of course, the reality is that giving tax cuts to the rich is the very worst way of getting more money into the economy. The multiplier effect for tax cuts for the wealthy is the lowest of almost any stimulative program the government can try.

Glenn Beck's Horrific Lie As much as I disagree with the hosts on Fox News, I have never called for any of them to be fired. I defended Don Imus when he got in trouble with his incendiary comments. That's because I believe a talk show host should have wide berth, even to offend. They are the conversation starters and at the heart of our political discourse.

Cutting Social Security Is tthe New TARP With the Deficit-Reduction Commission, as usual, a bunch of over privileged ingrates have been chosen by a bunch of over privileged ingrates to tell the rest of us that we don't need what little we have.If they go through with their recommendations, they all deserve to be taken down, including Obama.

Cutting Social Security is the New TARP Politicians who signed off on TARP lived to regret the day they did (especially Republican ones, just ask Bob Bennett and Mike Castle). Those votes will haunt the congressmen who supported the bailouts for years to come. That's the same exact thing that's going to happen to politicians who sell out the middle class by agreeing to cut Social Security.

How'd That Bipartisanship Thing Work Out For You? If the Obama White House trusts one more idiot in Washington who says they should try reaching consensus with the Republicans, then they deserve the ass kicking they'll get next time around, too.

How'd That Bipartisanship Thing Work Out For You? I'd like to ask all of the people who thought trying to reach out to Republicans in a bipartisan manner would be a good idea -- Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama in particular -- how'd that work out for you?

Why Are Democrats Going to Lose When They Are More Popular? There is a fascinating disparity in these 2010 elections. When asked which party will cope better with the issues facing this country over the next couple of years, Democrats win 42-38%. When asked who will handle the economy better, Democrats win 44-37%. When asked which party you approve of more in Congress, Democrats win 36-30%. Yet, they're about to get wiped out.

What Obama is Missing I know everyone is going to yell at me for writing this now. I can hear it now, "We're trying to win an election! You're not helping! Criticizing Democrats now is akin to getting into bed with Karl Rove!" Ok, I hope not the last one, that sounds creepy, but you get the point.

Silver Lining in Corporate Attack on Democrats In the past, corporations and rich donors were savvy enough to split their giving to both political parties so that both sides would have a financial incentive to protect them. Yes, they might lean more to the Republican side, but they gave enough to the Democrats to get them properly motivated to look out for corporate interests.

The Big Republican Lie on Tax Cuts Republicans have repeated the lie that tax cuts are always good for the economy so often that all of Washington seems absolutely convinced that it's true. The conventional wisdom is so established on this that all a Republican has to say is, "Everyone knows you don't raise taxes in the middle of a recession ..." Or in good times or in mediocre times or ever. All tax cuts are always good.
