Obama Swiftboats Van Jones For me, Jones' resignation isn't a testament to the frenetic dry-drunk tirades of a delusional Fox employee. For me, Jones' resignation was due to the Obama administration's failure to rightfully and necessarily defend a valuable member of its team.

David Swanson's DAYBREAK Is Chart-Topping Inspiration DAYBREAK is a revelation. Its clarity and ease of understanding should be mandatory elements for all books of importance. It's not obtuse or relegated to the multisyllabic intellectual. It's a book of deep insight with every citizen in mind. Hence it is a public service.

Our Children Shouldn't Be Messengers Of Hate! In military warfare, children are victims. In ideological warfare, children are victims. Regardless of which side of the religious and socio-political spectrum a child's parent or guardian is on, that child is innocent. Children are not billboards for hatred, malice and lies. But they can be purveyors of truth, and speak for the greater good. After all, it's their faces and that most affect us

Don Lemon & CNN, NO To "Real Americans" - YES To Real Journalism! While I applaud Mr. Lemon for confronting Hardage, I wonder where his and corporate media's outrage has been for the last eight years while the patriotism of those who opposed George Bush was constantly assailed. Instead of challenging accusations against Bush dissenters, corporate media embraced them. In fact they indulged them.

Whiteous Indignation I've seen persistent smugness from Gates' arresting officer, Sergeant James Crowley, in his encounters with the press. This supposed expert on racial sensitivity has shown no sensitivity at all. But he does seem pleasantly taken with his fame. And why shouldn't he be? He out-maneuvered the President. He arrested a man for yelling-while-at-home and scored a beer at the White House as reward!

President Obama, My Response To Your Fourth of July Letter I ask the President to stand with us to end our government's collusion with war profiteers who create weapons of destruction and fill their coffers with OUR MONEY. I ask the President to replace the obscenity of war with the audacity of peace. I ask the President to stand with us to put public interest above corporate greed, and to put our health above all else.

Dylan Ratigan?! Really MSNBC, Don't We Have Enough Ranters Already? By adding Ratigan's two MSNBC hours to Morning Joe Scarborough's preceding three MSNBC hours gives viewers five consecutive rancorous hours to start off nearly every day. Really MSNBC, is this what an already anxious nation needs?

Jingoism Isn't Journalism: Why I Don't Trust CNN & Corporate Media To Cover Iran I question the motives and involvement of the same corporate-media that sold an unnecessary preemptive war and profited from its prosecution. I'm suspect of a corporate-media that co-opts people's personal media reports, then re-frames and retells them using the same corporate launch pads that propelled an illegal war.

Destruction In Los Angeles As Rioting "Fans" Taint Lakers Win What's sad about the mobs who ravaged Los Angeles this evening is the selfishness they've shown their fellow Angelenos, and the way they tainted their favorite team's win. What's even more sad is that this is their method for expressing their joy -- by inflicting pain and destruction.

Newt Gingrich Declares: "I Am Not A Citizen Of The World!" This evening at a Washington DC fundraiser, in a statement that can best be described as regressive American exceptionalism, former Republican Speaker Newt Gingrich said of himself, "I am not a citizen of the world. I think the entire concept is intellectual nonsense and stunningly dangerous!"

How I Witnessed Sarah Palin's Fuming Anti-Abortion Fanatics On October 4th I got a taste of this anti-choice fanaticism as Palin's zealots shouted "baby killers" at the pro-Obama activists outside. I saw it first hand with the anti-choice tirades looped again and again by one Palin follower after another. This is their mission - their single issue cause - and Sarah Palin has given it life.

Joe Wright's The Soloist Exploits the Skid Row Community What I uncovered on Skid Row is a malaise more perverse than Mr. Wright's orgiastic assault on the poor and the mentally ill. What I uncovered is the gentrification and police mobilization of downtown Los Angeles designed to wipe the streets clean of the defenseless to pave the way for the well-to-do.

My Lesson in 'ACTION' from the Murder of Kitty Genovese I learned one of my most powerful lessons when I was 14 years old in New York City. I was horrified by an infamous murder that occurred in 1964 in my burough of Queens. A young woman, Kitty Genovese, was brutally attacked, raped and murdered, yet her screams for help were casually ignored by most of her own neighbors.
