What's With McCain, and What Job Has Bush Offered Him?

By Sandi Magathan Droubay

What is going on with him? Since the debacle of 2000 there has been no love lost between McCain and Bush, but now McCain is running around the country and doing major suck up work for the boys. Something is definitely up. Bush must have promised McCain some major concessions for him to do what, obviously, must be very painful for him. What could it be?

Some have said that perhaps Bush is making nice and asking McCain to be his new Veep, no way. McCain would never take second place to Bush. Not even being the good soldier that he is for the Republicans. There has also been talk of replacing Chaney with Powell, again, no way; I think Powell is outta there, he is ashamed to be around these guys and he should be. No, he wouldn’t go from being the Secretary of State to become the Vice President, unless he was interested in running for President and I don’t think he is. Powell is looking forward to being put out to pasture and becoming an overpaid CEO and writing a book about why he hates Bush in his spare time. In order, of course, to save what little face he has left.

So, this is the way I see it. McCain would enjoy being the Secretary of State; that is something he could really get his teeth into. So Powell retires and McCain is set up to take his place. Remember how during the 2000 campaign Bush pretty much told the press who his cabinet would be in order to reassure the public that although he was a political neophyte he would be surrounding himself with the boys from his fathers administration and Reagans? That helped him get elected. He’ll do that again.

Now, what of Chaney? Most liberals hope he remains on the ticket (for obvious reasons) and surprisingly so do a lot of Republicans ( a suicidal impulse). They will play the game for awhile, but I think he’ll retire for health reasons, late in the game ( in October when they find Bin Laden). Then they’ll choose someone else. I wonder who? Any ideas?

Also, missing in action…Rumsfeld. What have they done with him? I think he is gone too. Perhaps he is the doppelganger in McCain’s body.

I also think; that a good tactic for Kerry would be to also begin leaking ideas about who he might be picking for his cabinet. I really think appointing Lou Dobbs as economic advisor would be a great idea!! He is the working man’s /woman’s hero. I wonder if Dobbs would do that? Let’s draft him. And wouldn’t Joe Biden be a wonderful Secretary of State?

Well, just some thoughts. Comments can be directed to droubay2@cox.net
