Linda Gunter is a founder of Beyond Nuclear and works on media and development. She has specialized in energy issues and specifically the detriments of nuclear power since 1998. Her current focus is on the connection between nuclear power and nuclear weapons; the moral imperative to simultaneously abolish both of these destructive forces; and the urgent obligation to address climate change effectively and in time. Together with her husband, Paul Gunter, she co-authored the 2001 landmark report, Licensed to Kill, exposing the high toll taken on animal life - especially endangered sea turtles - due to the routine operation of coastal nuclear reactors. Prior to her environmental advocacy work she was for 20 years a journalist and public relations professional. She has also served as press secretary at the Union of Concerned Scientists and the Safe Energy Communication Council. As a journalist she wrote for Reuters, the Times (UK), the New York Times and numerous newspapers and magazines and was a broadcaster with the USA and Prime television networks. She speaks Italian and French and has traveled widely internationally. OpEdNews Member for 85 week(s) and 5 day(s) 5 Articles, 0 Quick Links, 0 Comments, 0 Diaries, 0 Polls
