Leigh Saavedra

                 

Leigh Saavedra, writing for years under "Lisa Walsh Thomas" is a veteran activist from the civil rights and Vietnam days. She has written and published numerous pieces of short fiction and poetry (and UNpublished novels), but has limited her recent writing to politial articles and poems. She's the author of an award winning (Governor's Award, Washington State) collection of short fiction, "So Narrow the Bridge and Deep the Water" (Seal Press, Seattle) and a collection of political pieces, "The Girl with Yellow Flowers in Her Hair" (Pitchfork Press [no longer publishing], NYC).

She is a former gifted education specialist and arts columnist and reviewer. She loves her three children, music, travel, designing natural jewelry, every kind of heart-filled art, and her American Eskimo, Abbie Hoffman.
