Alex Friedmann is the associate editor for Prison Legal News, a monthly publication that reports on criminal justice and corrections-related issues, particularly civil litigation (www.prisonlegalnews.org). He is also vice president of the Private Corrections Institute (www.privateci.org), a non-profit organization that opposes prison privatization. Having served 10 years behind bars, Alex is familiar with a wide variety of prison and justice-related matters and acts as an advocate for prisoners' rights and criminal justice reform.
