Cynicism 'can damage democracy's health'
This research this article describes appears to attempt to identify cynicism and contempt for politicians, the media and so on as as a kind of behavioral problem or phenomena that threatens 'democracy'...

complex issues without flinching from the overwhelming differences that
prevent sane discourse on the "truth" of 9/11, while at the same time
maintaining such equanimity."
