David tries to analyze what strategies we might most effectively employ to undermine the forces of greed and create a world more considerate of our fellow human and our environment. He also studies nature, sharing his knowledge, enthusiasm and labor in an effort to contribute to the maximum retention of native species and ancient ecosystems, and enjoys not only studying plants and animals, but eating them too.
He is keen on getting his fellow progressives to catch themselves when they serve our oppressors with language and behavior that these predators tricked us into using. Language examples include when an erstwhile progressive frames the military budget as the "defense budget" or when we use "we" or "us" when referring to actions of our government, a government largely controlled by our predators and the corporations they profit from. "WE" are not attacking Iraq and Afghanistan, etc., it is our renegade government that is doing so. (That said, it is still our job to work to gain control of, and rein in, that government.) Behavioral examples include when we take the bait to fight with fellow victims of our oppressors rather than fighting our oppression, as when progressive activists target their rage at so-called tea-baggers rather than uniting with them to fight the Predator Class that tricked these poor people into being their pawns.
David is a Jewish American, but likes to see himself as Semitic-American to emphasize that Arabs and Jews are the same race, His ancestors are from Europe, Palestine/Israel, Iraq and Africa and include. These ancestors include not only humans, but many other species of primates, as well as more ancient organisms.
I chose the name "Salaam" to emphasize my connection with our Arab brothers. The Arabic "Salaam" is equivalent to "Shalom" in another Semitic language, Hebrew.
