Heath Ledger's Tragic Overdose Death And What Can be Done To Prevent Others
Tony Newman of Drug Policy Alliance was Heath Ledger's neighbor. He hopes America will now wake up to face overdose risk squarely. It is the second leading cause of death after traffic accidents, but it can be greatly reduced by distributing an opiate antagonist drug and by passing "9-1-1 Good Samaritan" laws giving immunity to those who call for help when a friend overdoses.

Known in China as the '12/8/94 incident,' a tragic theater fire that killed 288 pupils threatens to focus long repressed anger of the masses toward Beijing's leaders.
The theater was also full of officials that night, and they all escaped because the students were told these words that haunt survivors still: "Everyone keep quiet. Don't move. Let the leaders go first."
