Why Pakistan has been insisting on giving a status of rulers to terrorists or Taliban? This is the question being asked by most of the tribesmen. There are very disturbing reports that Pakistan has entered into negotiation with militants. It is not yet clear as who are these Taliban fighters and for whom they have been working. They have committed several crimes. They have killed leader of PPP Benazir Bhutto.

The new government to be formed in Pakistan within a few days will hold talks with militants, who are involved in the killing of thousands of tribesmen besides committing crimes in other parts of the world. U.S. Is Looking Past Musharraf in Case He Falls
The Bush administration has started a search for a suitable man, who will rule Pakistan after President Pervez Musharraf falls. This time, too, the administration continues to blunder. They are not sincere about peace and human rights. They just want to achieve their motives. Their present attitude may further worsen the situation in Pakistan, which will have serious consequences worse than the Iraq war

Bush Aides Accept Failure in War On Terror
The US administration has accepted the failure in war on terrorism and now has been pressing Pakistan to do more. The US administration always acted on wrong information. The main cause of chaos and destruction in Iraq is wrong information. It is pathetic to note that the US administration has again giving the task of elimination of terrorists, who during the last seven years hoodwinked both US and people of tribal areas.

The result of recently held elections in Bajaur Agency is a clear demonstration of the tribesmen that they are against terrorism. The religious parties alliance favouring terrorism was given a crushing defeat. These religious leaders have been creating hatred among the tribal youth against the United States. Many observers have been describing this a victory for democracy.

The White House buried the lede today. Scott McClellan got the photo op and the shoulder squeeze from the President on the South Lawn, but everyone knew he was going soon. The real news is the wrist slap for Karl Rove, what it says about Josh Bolten and what it means for the White House and Republicans in Congress.

NYC: Gas Hits $4.50 a gallon
(3 comments)
With pump prices rising fast, a gas station under the Brooklyn Bridge took a quantum leap into outrageousness - charging a jaw-dropping $4.50 a gallon!
That's what the Gulf Station on Old Fulton St. in Brooklyn Heights was charging credit card customers for a gallon of premium yesterday.
A gallon of regular gas was no bargain, either, at $4.14 for cash or $4.26 on plastic.

U.S. Contractor Admits Bribery For Jobs in Iraq
(3 comments)
As part of the plea, Philip H. Bloom admitted his part in a scheme to give more than $2 million in cash and gifts to U.S. officials in exchange for their help in getting reconstruction contracts for his companies. Bloom's firms won $8.6 million in reconstruction deals, with an average profit margin of more than 25 percent.
Yesterday's filings included e-mails that provide insight into the fraud. In one, an Army Reserve officer who allegedly helped Bloom secure his contracts expresses gratitude for Bloom's largesse.
"The truck is Great!!! I needed a new truck . . . People I work with cannot stop commenting on how much they love it," the officer wrote in a Sept. 2, 2004, message to Bloom. The officer then added a bit of reassurance: "If there were any smoking guns, they would have been found months ago."

Norman Solomon: When "Diplomacy" Means War
(3 comments)
In the run-up to war, appearances are often deceiving. Official events may seem to be moving in one direction while policymakers are actually headed in another. On their own timetable, White House strategists implement a siege of public opinion that relies on escalating media spin. One administration after another has gone through the motions of staying on a diplomatic track while laying down flagstones on a path to war.

US Lawmakers Never Faced With Losing Benefits
(3 comments)
Members of Congress occasionally lose elections, but they never lose retirement and health benefits that most Americans can only envy.
A lawmaker who retires at 60 after just 12 years in office can count on receiving an immediate pension of $25,000 a year and lifetime benefits that could total more than $800,000.
That doesn't include 401(k) benefits. And any member who lasts five years in office also can get taxpayer-subsidized health care until he or she reaches Medicare age. SWEETHEART DEAL

A similar measure was narrowly defeated last year.

New WH Policy Chief Was "Brooks Brothers" Rioter
(3 comments)
The man Bush tapped to fill Karl Rove's spot as his policy wizard is none other than Joel Kaplan, who took part in the infamous "Brooks Brothers riot" of 2000. That's when a bunch of Washington GOP operatives, posing as outraged Floridians, waved fists, chanted "Stop the fraud!" and pounded windows in an effort to intimidate officials engaged in the Florida recount effort.
