L. RETZACK

I'm a Librarian-Media Teacher @ Colton (CA) High School who worked as a music teacher/librarian-media specialist for the U.S. Dept. of Defense Dependent Schools in Canada & Japan for 31 years. Following retirement in 2001, I built a modest career as a freelance writer. Previously I'd been a pt. time broadcast journalist in Tokyo @ TV-Asahi, NHK-TV & NTV. I wrote restaurant reviews for the Yokosuka (Japan) Seahawk weekly newspaper; music reviews/political pieces for a now defunct e-zine. In my free time, my 1st love is reading serious chamber music; then playing tennis. I'm a voracious reader, something of a news junky. Having lived in Japan for 32 years, I have an abiding respect for that country and its people.

My magnum opus is a 412 p. memoir I've written for the American Overseas Schools Historical Society. Titled Soothe a Savage Breast: the Memoirs of a Mad Musician, it's still unpublished. My 15-minutes of fame occurred in a Japanese TV show when conductor Hiroyuki Iwaki broke a violin over my head.
