Wisewoman

I was born during World War II, in New York City, where I lived most of my life until moving ten years ago to coastal Maine. I am married to a Substance Abuse counselor in the Maine State Prison system; a very rewarding and fascinating job. I myself am an artist: illustrator and author of Children's books; painter; ceramic artist; mask-maker; jewelry-maker. I have so many interests that it's hard to list them all: History (prehistory; archaeology; paleo-anthropology; Japanese history; American Civil War; British history), Music (world; classical; space; bluegrass), Nature and the Environment; an eclectic collector of antiques of all sorts (prints, paintings, pottery, gee-gaws of all descriptions); I have two dogs and two cats currently, though while living in NYC I harbored strays and frequently had an apartment-full, while they awaited places in local no-kill shelters. I love to cook (and alas -- to eat) international recipes as well as interesting American foods. I've started an extensive flower-garden and plant unusual shrubs, flowers, and trees......I'm out of breath.
