I am trained as an engineer (civil, mechanical, nuclear) and have spent my career (I am retired) mostly in the management of research and development in the energy field. I have been responsible for design and construction of nuclear and coal-fired power plants - and nuclear fusion. This has been in industry, government and as deputy director of a national laboratory.
