I'm 58 and an artist. I engraved firearms for years and do miniature pieces created from wood and using materials I find in our woodlands now. I have a long-standing interest in TE Lawrence, and the Middle East that led me to own a camel for several years. I have a bare-eyed cockatoo and a little green-cheeked conure who are my constant companions.

I volunteered for Joe Biden's presidential campaign in Iowa. It was the first time I had ever gotten involved in politics.

My husband and I have lived here in the woods, where he grew up, for about 36 years now. We didn't have running water originally, and heated with wood in those early years. We have some farm ground and a herd of sheep and one goat. He is retired from Iowa State University.
