Dick Hudson

From Illinois by birth I completed graduate school here and spent six years as an administrator with the Illinois Department of Corrections. Leaving there I removed to south central, rural, Tennessee and practiced psychotherapy for seventeen years. I then retired and taught sociology and psychology at a local community college for five years before retiring to Illinois to care for my aging parents. About eight months ago my father died and I now live with and care for my mother. I am divorced, have two married daughters who each have three daughters. I come from a very liberal family. My parents weathered the Great Depression and I think that intensified their bond so much that when Dad died last March he and Mother had been married for 72 years. My dad was a supervisor and eventually a consultant in the chemical industry yet, as I said in my eulogy at his funeral, although he was a member of management he maintained that he, "never got a raise that wasn't obtained through the unions because corporate would inevitably have to reciprocate to keep the salaried staff's wages above labors."
