Thomas Bonsell is a former newspaper editor (in Oregon, New York and Colorado) United States Air Force cryptanalyst and National Security Agency intelligence agent. He became one of American journalism's leading constitutional experts through years of study at Georgetown University Graduate School of Government in Washington, D.C., and tries (without much success) to be patient with people who argue endlessly on subjects they have never studied. He is the author of "The Un-Americans: Trashing of the United States Constitution in the American Press", a critique of the mainstream media for ignorance of, or disdain for, our constitutional principles of self-government. He left newspaper work years ago, disgusted at the direction the Fourth Estate ~ under the mismanagement of ineffectual, out-of-touch, can't-do executives ~ was taking away from honest responsible journalism and the observation that there was no place in the mainstream media for a progressive, or liberal, constitutional "expert". Bonsell is an honors graduate of Woodbury College (Los Angeles, California) with a bachelor of business administration degree. He is profiled in Marquis Who's Who in America. (Self-portrait, above, was handled to make author/artist appear prettier than he actually is.)

Several Boulder High School students in Colorado recently rejected the official Pledge of Allegiance to recite their own pledge ("I pledge allegiance to the flag and my constitutional rights with which it comes. And to the diversity, in which our nation stands, one nation, part of one planet, with liberty, freedom, choice and justice for all.").

Supporters of GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul seem not to want to hear any assessment of their hero. Their anger must be addressed once more.
Saturday, December 22, 2007 PARTY OF GOD COMES UP SHORT WITH JESUS AND BIBLE (13 comments)
The political right has claimed Christianity only for itself and denies it to others, especially the political left ~ also known as liberal or progressive ~ which right-wingers denounce as the "atheist left". That may be a good thing, and the left must learn how to use such claims to its advantage if it is to save America from the clutches of the destructive right.

The old saying is to learn from the past so as not to repeat it. Apparently we have learned nothing, and taking a look at the hysteria over communism should illustrate that.
Monday, April 23, 2007 The Promised Land and Other Myths (2 comments)
Ancient societies, having no printing presses or computer memory discs on which to store their knowledge, used myths to teach and pass on knowledge. Unfortunately those stories are subject to distortions and other misuses over time. This is about some distortions and misuses.
