Tuesday, March 29, 2011 Can Oklahoma's citizens rouse themselves out of their obesity torpor?
Health care is a human right as this press release points out. It is not something to be doled out by your employer as a threat to keeping you in line on the job. Nor should universal health care be used as a campaign threat made by candidates whose intent in bringing up health care is as a ploy to make voters think the bad wicked government is trying to take away your "right" to die in pain and poverty.
Friday, September 10, 2010 Is America Going to be the New Middle East? (2 comments)
I have to say how disgusting it is to see and hear formerly principled people lowering themselves to the hairsplitting minutiae of Old Testament prophets of the ancient "Holy Land of Palestine and Judea".
Saturday, August 7, 2010 Our Fierce Defender Losing his Bite
As a bi-racial man, and reputed to be intelligent, he should be able to see the parallel,
Friday, June 25, 2010 Love in a Time of Suffering
I never knew it was so powerful being gay or lesbian: we can stop the mightiest military machine since the Roman Empire by merely flexing a pectoral muscle or winking an eyelid at the right time all the while we're stereotyped as flippant and weak.
Sunday, March 21, 2010 Social War Mongers Fear Peaceful Action
Non-receipt of services or fraudulent manufacture of goods paid for usually means a refund of the purchase price. In our case, I think removal from office of the fraudulent officeholder by the election of a proven advocate of gay/lesbian equality is our legal avenue to success
Friday, March 12, 2010 Sally Kern has Serious Competition for Gay Hatred
Not content with passing SQ 711 in 2004 making marriage only between one man and one woman as many times as they like, the Senate has just passed 38-9 a bill (SB1965) opting out of the recently passed federal Shepard/Byrd Hate Crimes Law. The bill now goes to the House side of the building.
Thursday, February 18, 2010 Sometimes I Feel like a Stockholm Syndrome Victim
"We, the People", indeed, should stop being the door mat, and instead be the lock on the front door against the use of money to purchase our Constitution and civil rights.
Friday, October 23, 2009 Projectile Diarrhea -- What Oklahoma GOPers do Best (2 comments)
Reasonable people who want to reduce the number and need of abortions understand that the obvious requirement is to prevent pregnancy in the first place. Sen. Lamb needs to sit down and have an adult "birds and bees" lesson with a medical professional instead of a bull session with the good ole boys.
Sunday, February 22, 2009 A Teaching Moment from the Utah GOP to the Oklahoma GOP?
Imagine if the Oklahoma branch of the GOPer party had...acted like intelligent humans and told toxic Oklahoma Rep. Sally Kern to remove herself from the party until she could conduct herself in a civil manner. Kern is also famous for deriding the equality of America's GLBT citizens, using much of the same vocabulary as Buttars.
Saturday, December 27, 2008 Kern's Krew Collection of Peeping Toms
The Kern Krew is a sad collection of some very sick puppies who relish the pain of others in order to exorcise the demons that inhabit their own little bit of skull space.
Friday, October 24, 2008 Does one choose to be a freaking gay GOPer or is it genetic?
If gay/lesbian GOPers aren't recognized by their own party as equal citizens with all the rights, benefits, and privileges of hetero citizens then why should GOPer gay/lesbian viewpoints on any other of the sacred creed GOPer topics be respected?
Monday, March 31, 2008 Rep. Sally Kern Slaps P-FLAG's Other Cheek
Having talked face-to-face with gay-friendly advocates does Kern feel that further contact with Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays is raising too much heat in her own kitchen for comfort?
Monday, January 14, 2008 Vocabulary = Dollars? Public Financing of Elections
Wouldn't public financing of all elections bring the USA closer to the fulfillment of its Constitutional beginnings if we had sincere campaigns based on issues rather than the game show tactics of Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy?
Friday, September 14, 2007 Dean tells Muslims: Run for political office
Just as the capitalist economic model declares that competition is good, at the same time as it wants government protection (witness the failing loan business asking for financial succor due to the busted housing bubble), we'll see how the christian fundies feel about separation of church and state when there's competition from other religious brethren for the same charitable choice dollars now enjoyed by the christians.
Saturday, December 16, 2006 Mary's Royal Baby
I wish that every American child could have just a small portion of the opportunities that will accrue to the accident of birth awaiting Mary Cheney's baby--accident from the baby's POV, that is.
