Born a month before Pearl Harbor, I attended world events from an early age. My first words included Mussolini, Patton, Sahara and Patton. At age three I was a regular listener to Lowell Thomas.
My mom was an industrial nurse a member of the AFL/CIO. My dad was a painting contractor. We shopped at the Working Man's Store.
Dad's reading matter was the Old Mole the house organ of the Socialist Workers Party. I played the saxophone and became a young fan of Charlie Parker, Lester Young and Duke Ellington. Naturally, I gravitated to the Civil Rights movement.
After college to avoid the draft, I joined the US Army Reserve. Alas, this came to crowd control, which was a euphemism for busting radical potheads. When I ducked out of this duty, my commander bundled me off to a unit doomed to go to Vietnam. Ironically, my old unit went to Vietnam and the new one stayed home.
I studied economics in graduate school where I watched America go mad with war. Afterwards, I joined the rat race for a decade.
When Ronnie Reagan became President, I took up residence in Israel.
The 11 books listed below describe my adventures in Israel.
The articles reflect additional thoughts that expand on the author's ten volumes Genesis Begins the Millennia. The work begins in 1995 with a fictional account of ordinary Israelis absorbed with everyday events. There are extraordinary happenings the characters gradually recognize as portents of the Messianic Age. Volumes four and five show why the Messiah decided to delay His arrival.
Volumes six through ten [Tradebombers] begin six weeks before the 9/11 World Trade Center tragedy. Again, the characters portray ordinary citizen reaction to extraordinary events.

As Usual, I am Drawn to the Minority Argument
(1 comments) The bad habits of two generations are tough to kick. If the public suffers a couple of years more, perhaps they will mature to do the things that need doing. If they are too lazy, there is always a dictator to make the trains run on time.

Anybody Who Can Kill a Cat Can Murder a Person
(4 comments) In my animal shelter, Mike and I discussed the character of US veterinarians. They thought they were saving the cats from a poor life by killing them. This mentality extends to Afghanistan. Certain Americans travel all the way to the West Asian killing zone.

Our Antislavery Site
(4 comments) Instead of the President bombing defenseless peasants, he should send the US Navy to intercept slave ships in the Indian Ocean and on the South China Sea. The USAF should destroy the capitals of nations that participate in the abduction of the innocent.

Dumb Empires become Dead Empires
(3 comments) The banks restrained credit to build up tremendous cash reserves. In essence they used taxpayer money garnered at zero percent interest to pursue other profit-making possibilities. The taxpayers assumed all the risks while the banks raked in the profits.

Is Rush a Traitor?
(1 comments) Our president is a worldwide joke. Folks, do you realize something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran about, and that is he doesn't deserve the award. Now that's hilarious, that I'm on the same side of something with the Taliban, and that we all are on the same side as the Taliban.

Daily Beast Devours Military/Industrial Complex
Stick a fork in them, for they are done. A long time ago I said. "I want wings!" Nowadays, a sharpshooter with a 30.06 deer rifle can bring down an f-22 in flames. One Chinese missile can sink an aircraft carrier. The military/industrial complex can't find a Taliban in a treetop.

United States Decline and Fall in My Lifetime
Unhinged lunatics predominate. The US borrows 40% of her budget to pay entitlements, to bail out corrupt bankers and to invade Afghanistan. The Obama administration has done nothing to prevent a repeat of the 2008 meltdown.

Sibel Edmonds Testimony Makes News Worldwide, Except Mainstream US Media
(4 comments) Apparently American nuclear secrets, stolen by "moles" at America's most sensitive nuclear installations, sold on the black market with the help and protection of highly placed American officials, which then found their way into the hands of America's enemies, is not notable news to Americans. According to the American corporate mainstream media, anyway. We suppose they're all too busy fighting the War on Terror in New Hampshire or something.

It Aint About Hot Dogs & Fireworks
I wasted yesterday on US TV Trying to find a report on whistle blower Sibel Edmond's 6-hour testimony. Since I had waited seven years for it, I guess I can be patient. Joe Scarborough reported on the single payer rowdies rioting at town hall meetings. I felt sorry for Sarah Palin's Down Syndrome baby doomed by Obama's Death Panel. As a substitute, I present Sibel's Fourth of July message.

Americans as the Wretched of the Earth
(4 comments) As Algerians in the 1950's, the Americans have become the wretched of the earth. True peasantry is not merely a matter of finances. Does a man have control over his life? Has he an insight into his character and how forces may be manipulating him? Frantz Fanon probed his inner self for the answers. He inspired many Algerians to escape the chains that bound them. Perhaps, his message will inspire Americans as well.

Angela Davis - Activist
(4 comments) Her revolutionary politics and academic writings provide a link from 1960s groups like the Black Panthers to contemporary cases including Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu Jamal. Ultimately Davis represents a revitalizing force in New Left politics (she was at the forefront of Gulf War protests in the United States that were censored by the mainstream media) and individual life-affirming cultural studies (particularly blues and hip-hop music).

Iran Protests Resume Despite Death Penalty
As tear gas canisters cracked and hissed in the middle of crowds, and baton-wielding police officers chased protesters up and down sidewalks, young people, some bloodied, ran for cover, but there was an almost festive feeling on the streets of Tehran, witnesses reported in e-mail exchanges.

The Struggle in Iran's Streets is Beyond Elections

Confessions of a Radical to a Grammar School Classmate

Oil and Mining Firms Exploit Indigenous Peruvians
(1 comments) The leader of the indigenous movement Alberto Pizango has been charged with sedition. The authorities miss the point. Pizango has never played a central role in the movement, it has been a spontaneous response to the threats posed to their land, and by extension their lives, by President García's plans.

The Wisdom of Ayaan Hirsi Ali
"I am not against migration. It is simply pragmatic to restrict migration, while at the same time encouraging integration and fighting discrimination. I support the idea of the free movement of goods, people, money and jobs in Europe. But that will only work if universal human rights are also adopted by the newcomers. And if they are not, then you run of the risk of losing what you have here, and what other people want when they come here, which is freedom."

A Suggested First Step to Counter Domestic Terrorism
The terrorists are expert at media manipulation to achieve their goals. I respect the courage of such organizations as msnbc and individuals as Rachel Maddow and Keith Olberman to expose these violent elements to the US public. Unfortunately, citizen interest will shift to another evil, the TV ratings will fall and the terrorists will continue to prosper.

Nixon Plumber Meets His Prosecutor 36 Years Later
Ben-Veniste bumped into Egil "Bud" Krogh, whom he hadn't seen in 36 years since he prosecuted him during Watergate for Krogh's role as head of the White House Plumber's Unit, and did the unthinkable: he invited him to his book party, to be held just a few hours later.

Prosecuting Those Who Torture
What is the Serbian magic for cleaning up a den of torture? It's called community action. The magazine showed the torture film on its web site. The Serbian national media showed it nationally. The Ombudsman quickly brought to nine perpetrators to book. The Rehabilitation Center officials and the Serbian Orthodox Church hastened to help the abused patients. In one week they have ended the horrible story.

Living Amongst the Dead in Gaza
Suhail added, "We have dreams to look forward to and a different kind of life away from death and misery. Nothing could be more harmful to my children's mental health than this."

As Detroit Crumbles...
For too long Detroit lived off her ability to extract moonbeams from cucumbers. If you will, they ran ad campaigns that could sell silk purses made from sows' ears. Tata Motors markets a $1900 gasoline car in India. Tesla Motors in Israel has an all-electric sports car for $49000 that outperforms Formula One race cars.

Slavery and War Destroyed Our Society
Military police units were also expanded and used to quell any actual or threatened insurrection. American guns turned on unarmed American boys was no less of a tragic irony in Vietnam than at Kent State in Ohio or Jackson State in Mississippi.

Singer Shot for Performing on TV
(4 comments) I wouldn't reside in a country that condoned honor killings. I view them as a cruel leftover that should be abolished. However, the practice should not be used as one of the excuses to invade the "offending" country. Their culture is their business.

Jew Haters Always Ignore the Voices of Peace
(15 comments) The Israel haters always write in debating points, abstract theories and slogans. They never refer to individual Israelis in human terms. To them, there are no Israeli fathers, mothers or children. They refer to us as Zion**ts and war mongers always mere buzz words.

Islamic Anti-Israeli, Misogyny and Rights Trashing
(4 comments) Women's shelters have adapted their curriculum - instead of teaching the women who come to them how to become self-reliant, the shelters facilitate prayer rooms and employ mediators from the Islamic community. All this mediation serves only one purpose - that is, to return the woman to the circumstances of abuse she left.

America Imitates Dictatorships Withour Success
Bush didn't win the war and he ruined the economy in the process. The proper dictator realizes his limitations and works within them. If he lacks the power for a decisive battlefield win, he incites terrorists to provoke a climate of fear. His opponents disappear in torture dungeons.

Israelis Have Closure; Arabs Have Turmoil
(14 comments) We can erase the sight of them. We can safely dial out the noise from them. Unfortunately, they seek attention with terrorist incursions and by a regular barrage of missiles. Wrongly, the Arabs have deemed this the resistance. They have nothing to resist but the shackles of their own making.

Taliban Eat Doves
Human beings deserve better treatment as flesh and blood rather than as nationals and causes. Ordinary human beings are not obsessed with crusades, neocon wars or political machinations. They do not plot to overthrow the government. Indeed, they avoid any connection at all with the tortured slime bags who play politics. They only put ordinary folks in harm's way.

I smile, at the sixth anniversary of occupying Iraq, in spite of the sadness weighting on my heart, but I will never give up hope, ever; that Iraq will come back to its people, that a brave nationalistic leadership will come, a leadership that wants only Iraq's interest, will negotiate the occupation out, and will withdraw all the occupation's powers.

OEN Members Fiddle While America Burns

Obama Can Bypass Senate Filibusters
There is no longer any reason to allow the Republicans to delay, obstruct or dilute pressing legislation. Under reconciliation, 51 votes can force anything through.

The average American male is abused every hour of every day by the political system. His vote is meaningless a choice between criminals. His banker has sold him a self-destructing mortgage. Fear is a Tough Habit to Kick
By 1950 it was apparent that the USA had to cease as a Republic. The new Federalism demanded a huge increase in taxes. To get it, Harry Truman had to scare the public with tales of the Red Menace.
