A Fable: What the President's response to 9/11 might have been On October 7, 2001, the U.S. began bombing Afghanistan. Today, the Taliban are back in power in large areas of Afghanistan, opium poppy production is larger than ever, Afghan women are back in their burqas, and the fighting continues. There was a better way.
