Kentry Jn Pierre (PhD) is Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries. Before that, he was a member of the Board of Governors of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and Executive Director at the Folk Research Centre where he was instrumental in the growth and development of Creole Heritage Month and in the Establishment of the Harold Simmons Folk Academy. Kentry has worked actively as an educator at all levels in the education system (from primary school to university). He is a Creolist and cultural activist who, at the turn of the century also worked as a trade unionist, serving as General Secretary of both the St Lucia Teachers’ Union and the Caribbean Union of Teachers. He also worked for some time as an Information, Education, Communication (IEC) / Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) Consultant with the National AIDS Programme Secretariat (NAPS). Kentry is also a writer of short stories.
