Fast Track Energy "Reform" Pushes Mexico Closer to Authoritarianism Contrary to the Mexican people's will, the Pena Nieto administration stampeded the privatization of Mexicio´s massive energy resources through congress. Using Petroleos Mexicanos' (PEMEX) inefficiency and corruption as justification, energy "reform" was pushed through without adequate debate. This article demonstrates that PEMEX' negative portrayal was unjustified. Even so, the foreign investment floodgates are now open.
