a native of Italy, Alessandra Colfi, Ph.D.(c) holds a B.A./M.A. in Linguistics, a Master in Fine Art, and is a Ph.D. candidate in Expressive Arts Therapy; her doctoral dissertation focuses on engaging empathy to enhance awareness and resilience. She's a member of the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association and The Society for the Arts in Healthcare. She is Faculty and Associate Director of the Expressive Arts Therapy Department at International University of Professional Studies and presented at 2010 Scripps Oncology Nurses Symposium. Ms. Colfi has been assisting oncology patients, developmentally disabled adults and survivors of interpersonal trauma for 10 years in clinical and non-clinical settings. She currently facilitates her expressive arts therapy programs at www.SDCRI.org in Encinitas and California Mentor; Alessandra and her husband William Leslie have a small studio where they design and produce artistic lighting fixtures www.PaperSunLightSCulpture.com. Alessandra volunteers with Amnesty International/471, Dick Eiden for Congress 2012 and North County Anti-Human Trafficking Collaborative and Hope House, a safe house for victims of interpersonal trauma.
