If the Jews don't even accept the Pentateuch, why should any of the rest of mankind? If Genesis is not literally true, then the whole Jewish heritage is false, and built upon a foundation of lies, and fairy tales. The rabbis (and High Priests) are just standing on the sidelines, and allowing the godless theories of secular science to go unchallenged, to the point that even God's "special people" deny the scriptures.
