When you ask people if they are liberal, only 18% say yes, but ask about helping poor people, universal education & healthcare, providing for reasonable pensions, helping everyone to find work you get an overwhelming majority that supports those ideas. People are already there on philosophy they just need someone to articulate that philosophy in a way to attract religious and non-religious people alike.
