Iranian student activist and blogger Kianoosh Sanjari was arrested on 7 October whilst reporting on clashes between security forces and supporters of Shi'a cleric Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi. He has been arrested several times in the past. When he was only 17 years old in July 1999 he was arrested during student-led demonstrations against the closure of the newspaper Salam (Peace).
