I am a unemployed single Dad raising a teenage girl alone. I am also a community activist, amateur author (I have written a novel but can't afford to get it published) and Committee person for my district. I have a niche for helping others and I am very good at what I do. Just ask my constituents!! I have the knack of being able to help everyone but myself. I love being a parent, and my daughter is also my best friend. What bothers me most is the effect this recession is having on her. Our lives have changed radically and there are times I see my difficulties and frustrations reflected in her eyes. It's just us, trying to make sense of these crazy, scary, and exciting times we live in. Since I have been unemployed I have realized that what I miss most is having some control over our lives and where we are heading. But I cannot dwell on that for too long because it leads to nowhere. I know things will be better, and I am here for a reason.
