I am a Vietnam era Army veteran who served in the Hawk air defense missile system as a maintenance provider; I was "key personnel" for about 10 years. I served in the 2nd Bn/71st Air Defense Artillery, the forward area battalion of Hawk close to the Korea DMZ, through 1972, and from 1974-76, during when we left Vietnam, the Mayaguez incident, and the Axe Murder Incident, each of which brought us close to war on the Korean peninsula. I also served in south central Germany from 1978-1981, in part, the timeframe of the Iran hostage crisis and the terrorist activity of the IRA-affiliated Baader-Meinhof Gang, an attack of which I narrowly escaped in 1980.

I am now an advocate for veterans in the VA system who need help with issues and with navigating the system to obtain access to benefits and beneficial health care.
