Stu Steinberg served in the Army for five years and spent eighteen months in Vietnam as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal operator. He was decorated for heroism and wounded in action. He is a retired law school educator, public defender and capital defense investigator. In 2009-10, at the age of 62, he went to Afghanistan to work for the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and was an advisor to the Afghan Border Police, assisting them in the conduct of counter-narcotics operations along the Iranian border. Today, he continues to assist his fellow veterans as a service officer for Vietnam Veterans of America.

It's Time to "Swift Boat" Mitt Romney and the Republicans: It You're A Veteran, Or A Soldier, They Are Not Your Friends Mitt Romney and the GOP are not supportive of veterans and soldiers. Romney evaded service during the Vietnam War while marching to support the draft and the War. Since many of us are disabled and, thus, in that 47% he blows off as "takers," we cannot support him. As governor, he tried to balance the Massachusetts budget on the backs of veterans and attempted to downsize the state's Department of Veterans Affairs.
