The US has become for all practical purposes a criminal enterprise
The US has become for all practical purposes a criminal enterprise. Unhinged & unrestrained from any accountability, conducting endless wars, initiating coups, color revolutions, false flag ops, NGO infiltration to undermine legitimate gov'ts, that is criminal activity. Now w/ NATO on Russia's doorstep, US naval ships exercising old time gun boat diplomacy in the S. China Sea there's ominous foreboding cold war could turn hot.

It's hard to reconcile being an American and what America is perpetrating on the rest of the world
It's hard to reconcile being an American & what America is perpetrating on the world. Only fools accept the propaganda notion of our doing "good in the world" as if all the coups, assassinations, wars, occupations, renditions, detentions, torture & killing of innocents is "done to keep us safe." The endless war on terror was concocted as the new enemy replacing Communism all to justify outrageous unnecessary defense spending.

The "extraordinary sense of loss from war."
What sets apart Russians and Americans? With regard to Russia author Gilbert Doctorow writes, "Every family in the country lost members to the WWII effort. Every one. This extraordinary sense of loss from war is something that sets Russian consciousness apart from American consciousness". Most Americans have been spared that extraordinary sense of loss from war. That may be why we tolerate & accept so much war.

Putin is serving notice, Russia will defend itself against US and NATO aggression
The headline in the NY Times read, "Russia Bolsters Its Submarine Fleet & Tensions W/ the US Rise". It all but accused Putin's Russia of "prowling" off the coasts of Scandinavia, Scotland, the Mediterranean & the North Atlantic. The only problem Putin's prowling is just a response to the US &NATO prowling to the edge of Russia's borders. Putin is serving notice Russia will act to defend itself against US & NATO aggression.

A truly revolutionary issue, get money out of politics
The only time the country was revolutionary was July 4, 1776 w/ the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Today there is no less a need. There's been radical movements thru-out our history women's suffrage, civil rights, necessary but not revolutionary changing the way gov't was run, favoring the moneyed interests. But there's one issue truly revolutionary, demand big money out of politics. That would change everything.

Hypocrisy of Hillary's supporters
Since the Supreme Court's 5-4 decision in Citizens United Democrats have seen it as the root of political evil. But Clinton's Democratic supporters now defend Hillary raking in millions in corporate campaign cash & corporate speeches. This is simple hypocrisy revealing her supporters have no core beliefs.

There are times the gauntlet must be thrown down. This is one of those times.
Endless war befouls America as others see us as the greatest threat to world peace. America's decision makers don't want peace just hegemony over the world. Most Americans see this as part of the corruption that pervades our political system though most people believe they are powerless to do anything about it. But something is being done. "Democracy Spring" & it's happening right now in DC. The gauntlet has been thrown down.

A class of people who deserve our utmost respect
Respect. It's not a word often heard much these days. But there's a class of people who deserve the utmost respect, American veterans who have spoken up & come out against war. These veterans don't see themselves as "heroes". One put it this way, "How many innocent people have been killed since 9/11? Throwing out words like 'heroes' does a disservice to the experience of veterans & all the innocent people killed since then."
Wednesday, March 30, 2016 What is the US doing in the South China Sea?
What is the US doing in the S. China Sea? Supposedly to keep the shipping lanes open. It's just an updated version of gunboat diplomacy. The exceptional US believes its navy has the right to traverse sea lanes everywhere. The S. China Sea islands has been a local dispute for decades between China, Viet Nam, Philippines, Malaysia & Brunei. Now the US has put itself squarely into the dispute upping the ante potential for war.

"Democracy Awakening", God knows we need it
Thousands of "mad as hellers" will be coming to Washington Apr.16,17 to launch "Democracy Awakening" a nationwide mobilization to halt big money's control of a our political system. Most people recognize our representative democracy has been replaced by a plutocracy of oligarchs whose political toadies are selected & elected to do their bidding. Graft is out in the open; no longer a "Gov't from the Consent of the governed".

Day of reckoning for Bernie and the "Donald"?
Today is a sort of day of reckoning for Bernie Sanders & even Donald Trump w/ primaries in Ill., Ohio, Fla., Missouri & N.C. Bernie needs to win Ill. & Ohio to have any chance @ winning the Dem. nomination. As for Trump he's stirred a hornet's nest among neo-cons, Repub. insiders, corp. big wigs & Super PACS spending millions to derail him from winning enough delegates & capturing the nomination. It's that sort of a day.

So what to make of the "Donald"?
So what to make of the "Donald" in the latest edition of America's pres. nomination sweepstakes? Neo-cons, Repub. party elites, even Mitt Romney denounced Trump in a Thurs speech saying it would be a disaster if for the Repub party if he gets the nomination. But on Friday rank & file Repub. party voters reacted to Romney & party elites telling them what to do. One 71 yr. old said," You can't tell me who to vote for. Please."

With Antonin Scalia having departed the scene what does this portend for SCOTUS & the country? Even before Obama selected a nominee the Repubs denounced any choice the prez makes saying they'll do anything to prevent him, her being confirmed. W/ all this nonsense about to happen the bottom line is getting a 5th member app'd that can help begin to undo the damage of the Roberts Court, particularly overturning Citizens United.

The way the US acts in the world should be referred to as Crime, Inc. It's become the most sinister entity on earth. Most sinister because what it does is under the guise of bringing freedom & democracy to others using the Constitution & the rule of law as a fig leaf cover but betrays w/ impunity. From illegal wars, false flag ops, coups, assassinations, torture. The US has "earned" the ignominy it has wrought on the world.

Little "things" we encounter each day
How about those little annoyances we encounter each day. People talking on cell phones loudly in public, being tailgated while driving, getting ticketed from an unknown surveillance camera, TV's on everywhere, making a call and getting the answering machine w/the innocuous "Our menu has changed" rather than a real person answering the phone, particularly if it's a doctor's office. Have these people been outsourced as well?

Maintaining instability all over the world, the ultimate US subterfuge
Since the end of WWII, the US has engaged directly in multiple hot wars, a 45 yr. cold war w/ the USSR, clandestinely in numerous countries using CIA trained & armed proxies, initiated coups, assassinations, drone strikes in the war on terror; quite the chilling resume. The point being all this militarist mayhem & misadventures against "enemies" belie the ultimate aim & outcome of US policy, maintain instability in the world.

Sanctions lifted on Iran, diplomacy worked
The US & the EU finally lifted economic sanctions on Iran releasing some $100 billion of its assets. Int'l inspectors confirmed Iran's compliance w/ the nuclear deal signed last July. In reality the sanctions were bogus to begin w/. Iran wasn't developing a nuclear weapons program that was confirmed by all 17 US intel agencies in 2008 that Iran ceased all such activities in 2003. But this showed diplomacy w/ Iran could work.

Is the US beholden to the Saudi regime for its financial and economic survival?
There's been unexpected "fallout" of Saudi Arabia executing Saudi Shiite cleric al-Nims by the NY Times & the Wash. Post both calling it "dangerous sectarian policies & reckless regime, barbarity & actions that blatantly fan sectarian hatreds". But US policy is deeply entwined w/ Saudi Arabia. According to Finian Cunningham, "In short, the US is beholden to the Saudi regime for its financial & economic survival".
Monday, January 4, 2016 What to make of Saudi Arabia cutting all diplomatic ties with Iran? An escalation, but no game changer
What to make of Saudi Arabia cutting all diplomatic ties w/Iran? This after Iranian's sacked the Saudi embassy in Tehran in reaction to the Saudi regime executing a Shiite sheikh along w/46 others. The countries oppose each other over Yemen & opposite sides in the Syrian conflict. Though the executions & storming of the Saudi embassy is an escalation it's no game changer, not while the Saudi's remain a staunch ally of the US.

Mistrial declared in Baltimore
A mistrial was declared yesterday in Baltimore for one of the police officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody. Protests occurred immediately after the verdict was announced. One protester put it, "We want justice & we're just not going to get it". One thing seems clear w/this mistrial verdict of a black man dying while in police custody; the perception racial injustice is alive & well in America.
Wednesday, December 16, 2015 A possible light at the end of the tunnel in Syria?
There appears a possible light @ the end of the tunnel in Syria, this after a 3 1/2 hr meeting in Moscow yesterday between Sec'y of St. Kerry & Russian Pres. Putin. After the meeting it was announced an int'l conference will be held in NY on Friday. Afterward Kerry made clear the Assad must go mantra was a non starting position & the US stands ready to work w/ Russia. This could be the diplomatic opening to ending the crisis.

How did we the people become "insouciant sheeple"? Firstly ending the military draft in 1973 after we left Viet Nam. At the hgt. of the war in 67 to 73, resistance, defiance, protests, demonstrations were the order of the day on college campuses. No longer. Ending the draft of college age men & women, that were @ the heart of the Vietnam war resistance, meant after '73 they have no personal stake in resisting our wars.

Syria upping the ante reportedly ready to deploy S-300 surface to air missiles to defend its air space
It's been reported Syria is ready to deploy the S-300 air defense system, a surface to air missile supplied by Russia giving Syria control of its territory w/ the capability to shoot down any intrusive warplane or missile w/out warning. That sure ups the ante. But Syria is a sovereign state & under int'l law it's been attacked illegally. Does it not have the right to further defend against any hostile force attacking it?

"Things" looking ominous in Syria
Things look ominous in Syria. All the world's antagonists are engaged making it so ominous. Russian Pres. Putin was recently described as a paper tiger for not retaliating over Turkey downing a Russian jet fighter in Syria. It was a provocation. Putin refused to take the bait so now he's a paper tiger? Putin's actions in Syria have been defensive & legal under int'l law. But make no mistake Turkey's action won't go unpunished.

We need to take our country back
We need to take our country back. It's been systematically hijacked, usurped by the massive financial, military/industrial & energy behemoths that completely controls the political process, writes the laws, regulations, oversight & enforcement to the benefit of those interests. They underwrite the campaigns of politicos in a system of legalized bribery. Only w/ meaningful campaign finance reform can this corruption be ended.

"Things" heating up over Turkey's downing Russian jet fighter in Syria
"Things" are heating up over Turkey's downing a Russian jet fighter last Tuesday in Syria. One "thing" seems clear, the attack was a pre-planned attack carried out by Turkey. Another "thing" it's hard to imagine Turkey acted w/out US foreknowledge. One other "thing" seems certain; Russia will take direct action against Turkey. Pres. Putin won't announce his action beforehand but Turkey's provocation won't go unpunished.

Killing all alleged suspects in Paris attacks, a tell tale sign "official" narrative is suspect
It's been a week since the terrorist attacks in Paris. The official narrative remains, it was European, Islamic jihadists. Now all dead including the alleged mastermind Abdelhamid Abaasoud killed in a raid Wed. morning north of Paris. One would think for a thorough investigation of the crime attempts to capture alleged suspects would be preferable. Killing them all is a tell tale sign the official narrative is itself suspect.

He's sent French planes to bomb IS HQ in Raqqa, Syria & dispatched its aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to sail into the Persian Gulf. Is it really the "Call of Duty"?
Today on a DC Metro train there was a 4'x6' poster proclaiming something called a "Call of Duty" championship. A video game for "Mature 17+, Blood & Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Drugs". It's about torture, dismemberment, brutality is everywhere. So this what it may be coming down to: no military draft to contend w/ young people are getting enticed w/video games simulating real war.

Veterans Day, no longer the Armistice Day admonition there be no more war
Some things come to mind this Veterans Day. It was first commemorated as Armistice Day in 1918 @ the signing of armistice w/ Germany ending WWI. A day to herald peace after the "war to end all wars", meant to honor the dead but also the admonition there be no more war. W/ WWII and Korea Armistice Day didn't fit any longer & changed to Veterans day in 1954. Now it's a day to extol our military even as we fight endless war.

America the (not so) beautiful
It's becoming clearer by the day, the US is the most dangerous political entity in the world today. It is the most insidious, hiding behind the veneer of democracy, the Constitution & the rule of law trumpeting those virtues while disregarding them w/impunity. Incredibly most in America have bought the charade still spouting, "We're the greatest". Meanwhile the rest of the world sees us as the greatest threat to world peace.
Monday, November 2, 2015 Obama sends 50 Special Ops troops to Syria, "advisers" nothing more than "human shields"
President Obama announced Friday he is sending 50 special ops troops to Syria to "advise" local forces fighting ISIS. Cunningham's analysis is on the mark.

A Geo-political Realignment in the World?
There may have begun a Geo-political realignment in the world when Russian Pres. Putin boldly sent his air force into Syria 4 weeks ago w/ his stated intent to destroy the Islamic state & al Qaeda terrorists in Syria. It's absolutely significant forcing the US to reconcile & come to terms it can't challenge the Russian's in the air in Syria w/out an incident that could lead to the unthinkable; war between two nuclear states.

Putin's actions in Syria, Do you really want to mess with us?
Vladimir Putin's move into Syria "startled" the US w/ him saying w/ his actions-no words necessary-"Don't mess w/ us" or better, "Do you really want to mess w/us?" With his brilliantly conceived military moves in Syria he's changed the equation forcing reality onto the US that its notions of regime change is unacceptable & will be countered.

Putin's gamble succeeding in Syria?
It's been two weeks since Russian Pres. Putin seized the initiative in Syria sending in his jet fighters flying sorties & attacking terrorist enclaves in the war torn country. In response nothing but bloviating from US officials. "There will be consequences for Russia";"Obama should retaliate". Could it be Obama realizes the futility of his campaign to fight IS & Putin's move could begin to end the terrorist threat in Syria?

Shifting the blame
As if the US atrocity of bombing a Doctors w/out Borders hospital in Afghanistan wasn't so horrible it gets compounded by responses from US officials. "The hospital may have been collateral damage; Afghan forces requested the strike"-as if US advisers weren't in on calling the strike. This was an AC-130 attack gunship, that hit the hospital & this after the hospital gave GPS coordinates days before so they wouldn't get hit.

Putin to the rescue again, Part II
The geopolitical center of attention in the world today is Syria particularly w/ Russian Pres. Putin's actions on Syria changing the equation. He recently bolstered Syrian Pres. Assad's military sending planes &other armaments to Assad's beleaguered forces & coordinating military intel w/ Syria, Iraq, Iranian ground forces. Putin's actions jolted the White House but his actions seem intended to turn the tide against IS.

Putin to the rescue again
Russia began sharing military intelligence w/ Syria, Iran & Iraq in the fight against ISIS in Syria. This after Russia recently increased its military aid to Syrian President Assad's beleaguered forces. According to the NY Times the US was left "scrambling" & "jolted the White House". So what. Russia's Pres. Putin doesn't need to get clearance from the US hegemon in order to provide coordination to his allies fighting ISIS.
Monday, September 21, 2015 Twisting the Facts
Friday's headline in the NY Times read, "US Begins Military talks w/ Russia on Syria". Reporter Michael Gordon put it, "the Obama administration reached out to Moscow" giving the distinct impression the White House initiated the idea when in fact it was Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov who made the proposal to US Sec'y of State John Kerry over the phone on Tuesday. It's a twisting of the facts making it appear it was a US idea.

Nonetheless party members voted for Corbyn w/ almost 60% of the vote. After his victory he put it this way, "The people of Britain are fed up w/ injustice & inequality". The current domestic "tranquility", the calm before the storm?
Chris Hedges writes, "The Real Enemy Is Within", that "Militarists & war profiteers are our greatest enemy...there will be no genuine democratic, social, economic or political reform until we destroy our permanent war machine". The question; is how the destruction of our permanent war machine is to be done? That's the conundrum. It isn't that people don't know the evils Hedges speaks of. Many do; it's how to destroy it.

Maintaining the veneer of a democracy
The West is @ a crisis crossroad. First w/ colonialism & exploitation now w/ coups, assassinations, false flag events, wars, occupations, torture, the crisis is exacerbated. Syria, Ukraine, the refugee crisis in Europe, a direct result of war in Africa & the Middle East. And in America overseeing these horrors sits the president, the "unitary executive", the dictator in charge, where the "veneer" of democracy is maintained.

Chris Hedges article,The Great Unraveling focuses on the ravages of neo-liberalism & global capitalism in the US & the world, the vast inequality, wage stagflation, chronic poverty, factories closed, prisons overflowing are some of the depredations. What is stunning & disconcerting w/ the world crumbling are people w/ cell phones in hand, madly texting away seemingly ensconced in a cocoon, completely oblivious & unaffected.

Is there any doubt we are complicit in the wrongful path our country has taken? Is Rebellion Possible in this Country?
Is rebellion possible in this country? Certainly there have been protests by African Americans against police who often get exonerated after committing murders, growing resistance to fracking operations, the Keystone XL pipeline, labeling of GMO foods, environmental protests et al. Then there was the great recession of 2008 created by the malevolence of the financial industry. Rebellion was justified; it didn't happen.

A day of reckoning is coming. The signs are everywhere. Whether it's a horrific economic dislocation similar to the '30's depression affecting most of the people, a new world war or an environmental catastrophe, a reckoning is coming. Misanthropes in High Places
A mad neo-con led deviancy has captured "official" Washington driving US militarism since the cold war ended. American acquiescence permits Washington do anything it wants, wars, torture, drone strikes. Though not a classical conspiracy there is a collusion of the military, defense contractors & politicos. Although not a classical conspiracy they're like minded misanthropes who've usurped the reins of power in this country.

On Friday he betrayed the peoples vote, put forth a new austerity package of reduced pensions, higher taxes & reduced gov't spending which the Greek parliament app'd. The confederate flag could be removed in front of the state house bldg in Columbia, S.C. Gov. Haley called on the state assembly to consider removing it. That requires a 2/3 vote in each house & it's unclear whether the votes are there. Now in the aftermath of the slaughter of 9 @ the Emanuel AME church last week the gov is pushing for its removal. The Mirage of the USA Freedom Act Protecting American's 4th Amendment Constitutional Rights

Memorial Day, celebrating America's orgy of war
America's celebratory orgy of war otherwise known as Memorial day has come & gone. Of course they're only "good" wars fought by the indispensable country. Funny though it's not looked @ in the same way by others who see us mostly as aggressors. Keeping the world unstable is the modus operandi of the US all done to perpetuate & preserve the $trillion in defense spending each yr that goes to the benefit of the rich & powerful.
