I am an American woman who believes that our first priority should be to leave our world a better place for our children, than it was when we were born. At this point, it is difficult to believe that it is possible, but we must try.
Our country must stop thinking so short-term, and understand that the earth's resources are finite. That no one will survive when we destroy our oceans, our old-growth forests, or our rainforests. When polar bears become extinct because of the destruction of their habitat, we cannot bring them back.
When developers are allowed to plan our cities in order to maximize their profits; when oil companies are allowed to destroy our wilderness in order to maximize their profits; when corporations are allowed to destroy our families, our communities, our nation, people in developing countries to maximize their profits: we are insuring that we will NOT leave this world a better place for our children.
