Gaza by the numbers
(9 comments) If you think the Israelis are doing nothing but defending themselves, you need to look beyond the spin. In the most recent conflict, 13 Israelis died as a result of Palestinian rocket attacks. Israel's answer was to annihilate 1,300+ Palestinians, more than 400 children. We need to take the blinders off and see Israel for what it is: A nation determined to deny the Palestinians statehood at all costs.

They (the Republicans, of course) still don't get it
(7 comments) You would have thought that the Republicans would have learned a lesson after the drubbing they received in November, but they haven't. In fact, they are up to their old tricks, banding together for political purposes rather than for the benefit of the American people. Go figure.

War, Lies (Photos) and Videotapes
(2 comments) Condoleezza Rice recently said that George Bush's Middle East policies will stand the test of time. Yes, she's right. He's left a lingering legacy of war, death and destruction in his wake. They should never be forgotten. But George Bush, Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice should not be allowed to simply slip back into private life. They should take a trip to The Hague because they are nothing more than war criminals.

Coming down off the 'Obama High'
(1 comments) It's the end of November and I'm down off the 'Obama High.' There are several issues I see as key in the first hundred days of Obama's presidency. Those outlined in this article are the first that emotionally came to mind. While these are not the only important issues -- appointments certainly are as well -- try looking at these subjects as the 'fumes' from the toxic Bush Effect.

The greatest civil rights battle of our generation
(6 comments) On November 4, we took a big step forward plus three bigger steps back. Why? Because California, Arizona and Florida added their names to the list of states denying one group of citizens a basic civil right: The right to marry anyone we choose. But we're not content to be second class citizens anymore in America. This time, the Christian right is in for a fight.

Beware of them who must not be named
(16 comments) Chances are you don't know what a Dominionist is, but you should learn. Dominionists are the most radical branch of the Christian right and their goal is to change our democracy to a theocracy. Barack Obama's election may have temporarily slowed their progress, but the Dominionists aren't going away. In fact, they are looking to Sarah Palin to depose Obama in 2012.

Why George Bush is the worst president in American history
(16 comments) Elections can be so distracting, especially the 2008 edition. It almost makes you forget all about George W. Bush, and that would be very dangerous indeed. We're so worried about Sarah Palin getting elected that we're forgetting we have a criminal and his accomplice in the White House right now. So, let's look at all the reasons why Goerge Bush is the worst president in American history.

What was that biblical saying about casting the first stone?
(2 comments) In spite of their own questionable associations, the McCain-Palin strategy has shifted from the issues to smearing Barack Obama. They're doing it by linking him with William Ayers, who was prominent in the Weather Underground back in the sixties. But I say that everyone is fair game now, including the pit bull with lipstick and her lame boss, John McInsane. Is this any way to win an election? Hell no!

How low can Palin go?
(4 comments) So, now we know that Sarah Palin isn't just an average hockey mom. She really IS a pit bull with lipstick. She inspires people to yell "kill him" (referring to Obama) by invoking her ludicrous link between Obama and William Ayers, who started the Weather Underground back when Obama was eight years old. Is this the kind of vice president we want? Another Dick Cheney?

The McCain Meltdown
(5 comments) Since the "bounce" McCain got at the Republican Convention, we've witnessed the man's total meltdown. From the faux suspension of his campaign to deal with the Wall Street crisis to his snide, sneering, condescending performance in the first debate, it's almost been like watching a schizophrenics descent into total madness. Last week he suggested Bush veto the $700 billion dollar bail out he voted for. Has McCain gone crazy?

Cirque du Sarah Palin
(2 comments) It was hard for Sarah Palin to fail last night: The bar was laying on the ground. She managed to do well because she was allowed to run her own circus side show, ignoring the questions and talking about what she wanted to talk about. There were points for style but, as usual, no substance was present. She still doesn't understand the real issues facing Americans, she can't think on her feet, and she's still a liar.

Welcome to Disturbia
So, I'm a woman and Sarah Palin is anything but a friend to women. I'd not vote for the ticket based on that alone. But I want to dispel the myth that I'm a one-issue voter, so here are plenty of other reasons to keep McCain and Palin out.

Who does McCain think he's kidding by choosing Palin?
Feel comfortable with McCain's VP selection? Sarah Palin is exactly what America does not need: Another ill-equipped, unqualified public servant who wants to negate everything American women have fought for all these years. Just say no!

Our Hypocritical "Environmental" President
While George Bush spends his days helping his oil drilling buddies, he hangs out in Crawford in a completely outfitted, environmentally sound ranch. Just another dose of hypocrisy from the anti-environmental president as he pressures the cave-in Democrats to lift the offshore drilling ban.

We just don't get it
(9 comments) Nations that are considered for behind us on the Democracy curve question their leaders and hold them accountable. Somehow, here in America, we just don't get it. The inmates are still running the asylum.

The Next Battleground: The World's Food Supply
(5 comments) Do you know what's in your food? Did you know that 60-70% of the foods on your grocer's shelves contain genetically-modified ingredients? Who is this courtesy of? Why, none other than Monsanto, the former manufacturer of Agent Orange and contributor to about 50 EPA Superfund sites. If you thought they were bad as a chemical company, wait until you learn about them as an agricultural company.

The Bush-McCain Myopic Energy Solution
(3 comments) George Bush went on live television in 2006 and declared America addicted to oil, and vowed to do something about it. And he did, starting an illegal and immoral war to help feed the junkie's habit.

The Scum Also Rises
(2 comments) Jump back on the SS John McCain and take a trip down the River of Shame. He's in bed with special interests, in spite of his rhetoric decrying them. And his war on women and the environment is ramping up. Let's also remember that he doesn't support the Webb GI bill in spite of the fact that he has no problem putting our soldiers in harm's way in an illegal war.

Just say no to Joe!
(2 comments) Ready to give up your last bastion of total freedom? That's what's going to happen if we let Joe Lieberman have his way legislating the Internet to, of course, protect us from terrorism. It's time to just say no to this assault on our freedoms.

Its not about the party. Its about the people.
(4 comments) Ah, the hypocrits are out telling Hillary Clinton to quite the race for "the good of the party." Well, it isn't about the Democratic party. It's about what's good for the people, and what's good for the people is a race that plays itself out to the end. Enough with the closed-door superdelegate dealings engineered by the Democratic 'elite.' The Democratic primary system is corrupt and must change.

Move over, Nancy. You may have taken impeachment off the table, but Shirley Golub is determined to put it back on!
Meet Shirley Golub, a grassroots activist challenging the powerful Nancy Pelosi in San Francisco's 8th district this June. In a wide-ranging interview, Shirley lays her cards on the table about her uphill, but winnable battle.

The Politics of Hypocrisy: McCain slips out from under his rock
John McCain slithered down to the Lower 9th District last week determined to paint himself as a 'kinder, gentler' GOP candidate and to rail at the Bush administration's failed response to Hurricane Katrina. One thing everyone (read: Mainstream Media) failed to tell the public was about McCain's part in shaping that dismal response. How hypocritical can a candidate get?

Don't look now, but the terrorists have won
(6 comments) The nation we have become under President George W. Bush has been shaped by the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Our present government is unrecognizable, taking away our civil liberties, torturing prisoners of war, and lying at every turn. Don't look now, folks, but in spite of our verbal bravado, the terrorists have won.

The selling of the mainstream media: A threat to American democracy
(9 comments) Investigative journalists are a dying breed. Today, American media is in desperate condition. Owned by corporations with their own political agendas, the mainstream media digests pre-packaged news from the White House and regurgitates it back to the American people. Now the FCC wants to further relax media ownership rules which will result in good news for big business and more bad news for American democracy.

Why we have no business boycotting the Olympics
(6 comments) Why should we boycott the opening ceremony of the Olympics when we refuse to hold our own leaders accountable? It was a nice photo op for Nancy Pelosi, but I hardly think she's the one to speak about oppression when she has been oppressing articles of impeachment against the Bush administration since she assumed power.

McCain: That was then (Flip). This is now (Flop).
(1 comments) The mainstream media, as usual, is asleep at the switch when it comes to John McCain. This time they're failing to judge him by the company he keeps, like the radical Reverend John Hagee and his "spirutual guide" the Reverend Rod Parsley. Yet his endorsements from these two right wingnuts present a clear future danger to American foreign policy.

The Bankrupting of America
(9 comments) Do you believe President Bush's prediction that we'll be operating in the black by 2012? There's no way that's going to happen if his disastrous economic policies are continued and the Iraq war is allowed to drag on indefinitely. It's time for a reality check on the U.S. economy.

What will be in the Bush Library?
(2 comments) How will George Bush be remembered years down the road? the NeoCons will, of course, position him as a great leader in a time of crisis. Others will remember him as a man whose ignorance and arrogance combined in disastrous fashion to permanently tarnish America's reputation. What will they put in the Bush Library at SMU? What historical moments stand out? I have some ideas.

Americans are out of touch with reality on the war
So, American's think "the war is going pretty well" right now. By whose measure? If you're an Iraqi citizen, you may have a different opinion.

The Case for Impeachment
(1 comments) Just because George W. Bush only has about eleven months left in office, this is no time to back off on impeachment. The evidence against Bush is more than compelling enough to warrant impeachment and it will serve to raise the cloak of Executive Privilege the administration has so frequently hidden itself under.

Vote McCain in 2008 (if you think George W. Bush deserves a third term)
(1 comments) Shedding light on a presidential candidate who has been giving a "bye" from the mainstream media. Electing John McCain is essentially giving a third term to George W. Bush. And by the way, he isnt the special interest-disdaining, lobbyist disliking candidate he paints himself to be.
