Friday, December 17, 2010 Are Progressives Losing Touch With Reality? (11 comments)
Have the complexities of the American presidency & corporate control of our government become too much for progressives to handle?
Friday, September 3, 2010 Glenn Beck the Faith-Healer Continues to Scam His Followers (4 comments)
Throughout his gripping new book, Philadelphia Daily News reporter and blogger Will Bunch augments the notion that Glenn Beck is playing a fictional character named "Glenn Beck." A faker. Specifically, Bunch draws together evidence indicating that Beck is nothing more than a morning zoo deejay whose latest money-making stunt is to portray a new kind of televangelist, offering political and religious salvation for profit.
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 The BP Disaster Continues Despite the Cheerful Happy Talk
The latest guesstimate of 206 million gallons of oil leaked into the Gulf (that's FIVE Exxon Valdez spills!)has vanished according to the press, government officials and BP pitchmen.
Tuesday, July 6, 2010 Listen All Y'all, It's a Republican Sabotage (1 comments)
Republicans are willing to create havoc & irresponsible levels of destruction to sabotage the Obama administration & regain power.
Monday, April 26, 2010 Glenn Beck: the Televangelist Con Man Selling God's Plan for America
If religious zealots blur the line between what happens in the pulpit and what happens in Congress, it's that much easier for Congress to tax and regulate what happens in the pulpit. Be careful what you wish for, Beck and Palin.
Thursday, April 8, 2010 Exposing Glenn Beck as a Dangerous Fraud (7 comments)
Glenn Beck is engaged in a carefully orchestrated performance that, if taken to its logical end, can only end up in tragedy -- a tragedy, not in the name of some great political or social or religious cause, as too many of his viewers might believe, but rather in the name of pure careerism and greed.
Wednesday, March 3, 2010 The Tea Party Is All About Race (9 comments)
Racist hate groups are at record levels -- rising from 926 in 2008 to 932 in 2009, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. The Teabaggers & hate mongers who turn up regularly on right wing radio & increasingly in the New York Times seem to be OK with looting the treasury & illegal wars as long as a black guy isn't in charge.
Wednesday, February 10, 2010 Time for the Democrats to Get Loud and Fearless (4 comments)
Ethically inert Republicans are convinced deluded, embittered Americans will respond to their reflexive hatefulness. If Democrats fail to present an immediate, decisive alternative, it could lead to disaster in November.
Thursday, January 14, 2010 Republican Fear has Given the Terrorists an Easy Victory
America, the premier exporter of global terrorism at the moment, relies on toxic windbags like Limbaugh & media pit toilets like Fox News to get the word out & get the word out they do.
Thursday, August 20, 2009 Bipartisanship porn (2 comments)
I'm not so thrilled to announce that there's a new kind of "porn" in town. What we've been witnessing during this health care reform process can easily be defined as "bipartisanship porn." It's a display of bipartisanship so obscene and excessive that it borders on perverse.
Thursday, February 26, 2009 The Wingnut Revolution (3 comments)
What the far-right appears to suggest is that ideas that are supported by 82% of Americans are criminal acts of tyranny, and an eventual tax increase of pennies on the dollar for the wealthiest 2% is worthy of opposition by revolutionary means.
Sunday, February 22, 2009 Sean Hannity's Ridiculous War against Socialism (3 comments)
We have grown accustomed to nonsensical rantings from the right wing sound machine in this country, but a recent frothy mouthed incantation by Sean Hannity takes this phenomenon to a new level of the absurd.
Wednesday, February 11, 2009 President Obama Is Literally Driving The Republicans Insane (18 comments)
I don't think we ever anticipated that the presidency of Barack Obama would, among other things, send the far-right into a freakazoid display of shockingly deranged conniptions and outright crazy talk -- their manic hyperdrive engines, fueled by Rush Limbaugh's gesticulating arm flab, blasting them out of their political Mos Eisley cantina scene and expelling them a thousand parsecs beyond the zero barrier of insanity.
Saturday, December 6, 2008 No Attacks? Since When? (3 comments)
As we near the final end of the Bush/Cheney nightmare, a concerted effort on the part of self serving right wingers to rehabilitate the Bush legacy is underway.
We must not let these individuals who have been so wrong on every big question over the last eight years to create a new myth to cover their tracks.
Or their own duplicity.
Thursday, September 11, 2008 Fooled Again
It's happening again. Regardless of the outcome of this thing, it's clear that half of America is falling for the same superficial trickery that gave us eight years of George W. Bush. You know the routine. Who do you want to have a beer with? Who is more plainspoken? Who would you like to drive your kids to hockey?
Friday, April 18, 2008 The Very Serious Debate, Starring The Very Serious George & Charlie (8 comments)
The nation has witnessed, firsthand, George Stephanopoulos and Charlie Gibson for who they really are: pandering yellow journalists. Carnival barkers. They're Penn & Teller without the talent or insight.
Wednesday, December 19, 2007 Barack Obama For President (8 comments)
After seven years in this Dark Age, I've almost forgotten what it was like to have a real president occupying the White House: a president who, even if I disagreed with his policies and ideology, dignified the office with a stature that symbolized the awesomeness of America.
Thursday, October 18, 2007 World War III Is Going To Be Hilarious (2 comments)
Your president giggled and grinned while discussing World War III yesterday. To the rest of the known world, however, World War III a scary thing. It's just below abortion and above rape on the list of the all time unfunniest topics. They're marketing Iran with more psychotic voracity than Michelle Malkin attacking an injured baby -- and no one can stop them.
Sunday, September 30, 2007 America Used To Be Really Goddamn Awesome (3 comments)
I've been captivated by Ken Burns' The War this week and it struck me how awesome America used to be.
The prevailing attitude of the ladies and gentlemen featured in Burns' film, and by proxy all Americans of that era, was that if we had to fight a war, we had better do it right. Clearly and with little dissent, we had to fight that war, and without fail, Americans rallied together to do it really damn well.
Wednesday, August 15, 2007 Karl Rove Out There Walking The Streets
Whenever we talk about criminals, we traditionally worry that somehow they'll slip through the cracks and end up "out there walking the streets." No-one wants the freakdogs of society out there walking around on our goddamn socialized streets.
But there he goes anyway... Karl Rove, the second most infamous villain of our time, leaving the White House at the end of the month.
Wednesday, April 18, 2007 It's Not About The Firearms (2 comments)
So what causes a maniac to murder 30 people in cold blood? It can't possibly be about the 9mm handguns, in the same way terrorism isn't about access to beverage containers. Yeah, I'm one of those progressives who has long since conceded the gun debate. It's not because of the gun lobby's simplistic talking points, it's not because of the hunters who think it's most excellent to kill innocent animals...
Sunday, December 3, 2006 9/11 Is Why He's The Worst President Ever (1 comments)
Almost as tragic as the attacks themselves, President Bush turned the nation and the world down a path of darkness, tragedy and more death. America is more divided than it has been since the Civil War. Many former allies disdain and merely tolerate us.
Tuesday, November 28, 2006 Step Away From The Constitution, Mr. Gingrich, And Put Your Hands Where We Can See Them (1 comments)
You, me and every human being who calls him- or herself an American ought to be willing to sacrifice ourselves before acquiescing to the tyranny of those who advocate such unconstitutional laws as the USA Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act and other yet-to-be-proposed ideas put forth by reactionary Republican cowards.
And "reactionary Republican cowards" includes Newt Gingrich
Wednesday, November 15, 2006 America's Mayor v. Wingnut Conservative Zealots (1 comments)
if Rudy were to win, I'd at least breathe easier knowing the next president isn't 1) a far right religious zealot, 2) a Bush Family human-animal hybrid, or 3) a man who, despite being tortured in Vietnam, was reduced down to a suit filled with really, really white jelly when facing off against President Bush on the Military Commissions Act and detainee torture.
Sunday, November 12, 2006 Time For A Big Ol' Cup Of 'Shut The F*** Up' (3 comments)
At the risk of sounding contentious in this all-too-genuine era (several days) of bipartisanship, here now is a roll call of people who must officially shut the f*** up.
