Valerie Tarico is a psychologist and author in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Tarico,who describes herself as a spiritual nontheist was raised in Evangelical fundamentalism and graduated from Wheaton College of Billy Graham fame. Her book, The Dark Side: How Evangelical Teachings Corrupt Love and Truth examines the moral and rational contradictions that caused her fundamentalist worldview to crumble.

In 2008 she founded The Wisdom Commons an interactive website that seeks to elevate universal ethics, also known as humanity's shared moral core. The Commons houses a growing collection of over 3000 quotes, poems and stories from secular and religious wisdom traditions around the world. It is a place to find and discuss information about virtues that human beings generally agree are important like generosity, compassion and courage.

Dr. Tarico lives in Seattle, Washington where she hosts a monthly series, Christianity in the Public Square, on SCAN TV - Moral Politics.
