Issue 2 Will Hurt Small Farms in Ohio--Please Vote NO
Blogger Kimberly Hartke gives OHIO her "Unwellie Award" for putting Issue 2 on the ballot. This measure will heap bureaucracy and control over farmers, all in the name of animal care standards. The farms that will be hurt the most are the ones who know best how to treat animals humanely. George Orwell was Right!

The FDA Dairy Safety fellas are circling their wagons, the raw milk posse is bearing down on them, and they need to shore up their defense, whoops I mean defend their offense...hey guys, you don't need to jump in the river, just surrender!

Economic growth is bubbling up in the heartland, traditional dairy farming is BACK in a big way thanks to the growing consumer demand for raw milk. Now we just need the FDA and Congress to let the real milk flow!

Monday, January 26--A dairy farmer is hauled into court on 20 criminal charges in Ontario, Canada.
He is being prosecuted for helping families obtain raw milk. It is legal to consume raw milk in Canada, but illegal to sell it. So this creative farmer sold the cows, and his shareholders get raw milk dividends. Read why this is the latest wave of community supported agriculture, if the gov't would just let it be.

Raw Milk Dairying-A Continental Perspective
Sustainable farmers all over North America are facing criminal prosecution as they struggle to meet the demand for healthier food. Take these two cases in Canada, for instance. On January 26, 2009, one of these farmers will be hauled into court and may end up in jail. His only crime is providing real food to people. George Orwell was right!

Dear Canada: Michael Schmidt is Not a Criminal
Critical to the success of sustainable agriculture is the battle for legalization of raw milk. Central to the life of a small farm is the contented, grass chewing dairy cow. Cows provide food for the farm family, skim milk to fatten the pigs, and plenty of manure for fertilizing produce fields and for the chickens to poke around in to find bugs and worms, the natural source of protein in their diet. Farmers need to be free!
