Nancy is best known as a national leader in the voting rights movement for her seminal work exposing the dangers and fallacies in various election reform efforts past, present and future. She serves on the Board of Black Box Voting, and is Adviser to Election Defense Alliance and the Election Transparency Coalition. She contributed a chapter in the April 2008 book "Loser Take All" edited by Mark Crispin Miller. In her spare time Nancy works to educate people about the dangers of electronics in our voting systems. She successfully advocated for a law in her home town to prohibit concealed vote counting by computers or any other means, in compliance with the New Hampshire Constitution, which mandates that the votes "shall be sorted and counted in open meeting."

NH recounts no check and balance for its privatized corporate-controlled elections Nearly 90% of NH votes are counted IN SECRET by a private corporation with a criminal history, criminal personnel, and partisan ties. This is in clear violation of the NH Constitution, which states that vote counting must be observable, and in violation of the concept of "non-delegable governmental functions. The State claims that privatizing the election night vote count is OK because NH has manual recounts. Balderdash.

We need to eliminate secret vote counting, not a recount The problem before us is that we have outsourced the most precious thing in our democracy: the counting of our votes. And in New Hampshire, we have outsourced more than 80% of our votes to a private corporation counting those votes in secret, and, as it turns out, that private corporation has a convicted drug trafficker on its executive team to boot. A recount does not solve this problem.
